Good quality, sharp to cut meat, long lasting
Very good quality, dishwasher safe, I got them almost 3 years ago and still sharp. Elegant and restaurant quality at home :) 100% recommended

The handle is metal and for the price its hard to complain
Update:It's been 1.5 years now and the blades are holding up perfectly. They've been through the dishwasher a lot and they haven't shown any signs of discoloration, they have held their edge well and are still pinned together really well..I should have mentioned in my original review that these have shallower teeth than what I prefer. It makes them cut "neater" but not as easily as larger ones. This has nothing to do with sharpness etc but is simply a fact about the height of the serrations.Original:I feel like I've been giving a lot of things 5 stars lately but I also feel like I'm one of the few who takes price into consideration. Anyway...Right out of the box they seem great. It's quite obvious that they are meant to be sold in a big box store. Otherwise the money spent on the display box they were delivered in seems like such a waste of money. It's high quality and I guess I could see someone keeping them in it for storage. But at $25 - $30 (for 8) mine are going in my old knife block, or they will be pilled on top of each other in a drawer organizer. Now onto the knives. I've only had them for about a week (8/3/19) and haven't run them through the dishwasher yet. So once I do that I'll update this if issues start to arise. But they seem solidly built. The three pins that mount the handles, to the Tang, look strong enough to handle some abuse. I included a bunch of pictures - to help you understand their scale, and to also show some features, that may turn you off from them. The first two compare them to an old set of cheap steak knives that came in a set (with a wood knife block). As you can see the handle is narrower than those but it is still comfortable in the hand and doesn't slip. I'm a 6' tall man if that helps. The third picture is also for scale.Pictures 4 & 5 show the side and top of what some people find questionable. It's the gap created by the butterfly logo and I've seen some people comment that it makes them they look like foldable blades. TBH that was my biggest concern but in when they arrived they looked much better than I thought. The 6th pic just shows that the handles are ferrous, so they are indeed metal, even if they feel a bit "tinny" I'm glad they are metal so they won't crack over time.In the end they are definitely worth the money, they cut well (so far) and the quality is beyond the asking price. Please mark this as helpful (if it was) so I know it's worth me taking the time to write these longer reviews with pictures.

amazing!
I first identified this Laguiole-style knife at a nice steak restaurant. If you study Laguiole knives, you'll quickly learn they're made in a small village in France and you pay a big premium for the real thing. As such, they're ripe for being ripped off and sold on Amazon for significantly less money. That is definitely the case here. But with that all said, these are restaurant quality knives. They are inexpensive enough for the dishwasher, quality enough for your favorite/fanciest dinner guests, and inexpensive enough for dad to use them as a screwdriver and not go to divorce court.I gave these to my wife for Mother's Day, which was a little strange in hindsight, but she has always noticed and loved these at restaurants. She thinks they're terribly fancy. She's smart enough to look them up herself but at least I was a hero for 5min, which is worth something.

Useful
While not quite as sharp as I was hoping for, these knives are nevertheless attractive and functional.

Sharp - both in looks & function!
I've been on the hunt for a simple, yet smart looking set of steak knives. The set that came in our butcher block has seen much, much better days! They're dull and starting to fall apart. Plus, there were only 6 of them initially. I intentionally wanted a set with 8 knives - to match our silverware place settings. We use a pattern by Lenox for our silverware - it's a sharp, silver set with an elegant, yet simple pattern. I feel that this knife set - with minimal pattern/decoration - perfectly compliments our silverware when set at the table. Plus, these knives are SHARP! Wowzers - the other night - before it started torrential raining in the Midwest, we grilled a few steaks. These knives sliced through the steak like butter! So much better than our existing set of steak knives in the butcher block that I mentioned earlier in my review. It's important to me to have sharp knives around because of my arthritic hands - I don't have the ability to "put some muscle into it" to cut meat, veggies, etc. My hands are grateful for this set!Did I mention that this set came in a beautiful gift box? It would have been perfect if I had purchased this set as a gift! In fact, as we were enjoying our steaks, I asked my spouse to brainstorm with me if there was anyone we knew who needed a set of steak knives - because I was going to buy a second set! lol! Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend buying to others.

Everything I expected.
It was exactly what I expected. It came in a timely fashion and was boxed very well.

Finger tabs on the top of the knives fall off.
I bought a set of these to replace some we have that weren't dishwasher safe. The company makes good knives, generally, but these are not made well. Out of the set, so far four of them have lost the finger tabs on the top of the knife that lets you put pressure on what you are cutting. This is not only unacceptable from a product perspective but really dangerous if the tab winds up in someone's food and they accidently swallow it.My rating reflects the defects in the product. For example, the "value for the money" rating is zero (you can't put a zero rating in). The same assessment applies to the other categories.

Piece of the handle breaks off
The knives are sharp which is great but the handle design is bad. The little decorative piece where the blade meets the handle falls off. The first time it happened I sent them back and got a replacement set which was nice. However, two weeks later, the same thing happened to one of the replacements. The part where the piece fell off is sharp and the piece cannot be glued back on. Very disappointing. The first two photos are the broken one, the third photo is what it’s supposed to be.
