Perfect for adding 'zing' to the underside of a bunk bed!
We recently did up my little boy's room, and the one thing he wanted was LED lights that changed colour. We got some for the lounge downstairs that are normally white, but can be put into "party mode" (colour changing) "chicken dinner" (dusk - the remote has a picture of a roast chicken next to the button) and "love mode" (all pink/purple) for.. god knows what... Austin Powers? So, I checked out the underside of his bunk bed, and there's a rim around the underside which I thought I could run an LED strip around. I looked around, and these seemed a good choice based on reviews. The pack comes with a few (simple) instructions. You basically just plug the transformer in, and then plug the lights into the transformer. In that way, they're no more complex than christmas lights.I used a little sellotape to hold the end of the light strip in one corner of the bed, and then slowly 'unpeeled' the backing from the strip, as I ran my finger over the top of the strip, gradually pushing it onto the rim of the bed frame. The corners were a little tricky because the leg of the bed made it a convex corner between two concave corners, but the LED strip's backing is so sticky, I was able to push it quite firmly into the corners, and it followed the rim round well. When I got to the far end, I realised I still had about 50% more to go!, so I ran the strip down the leg, all the way along under the desk, and back up the leg on the far side. And there was still more!, so I ran it back across the top of the shelves behind the desk, where I snipped off the end with scissors. Perfect. The transformer box has the IR receiver in it for the remote control. Because there's another LED lamp with it's own remote, I realised that the remotes all interfere with each other on these cheaper LED things. They're not manufacturer coded, they just use simple IR impulses, but each LED vendor uses the pulses differently. So 'green' on one, is 'flashing' on another, while 'off' on that, is 'turquoise' on the first. So, placing the IR receivers well apart was crucial! The only tricky bit was pushing the little plug from the light strip into the transformer. It uses a very small plastic plug which you need something like needle-nose pliers or a flat-bladed screwdriver to push in firmly. If you don't the connection can be loose, and they flicker. But once clicked in, the connection is sound. They've been in for about 3 months now, and one of the LEDs has started to fail (I think each LED is actually three, and the blue one has stopped working in one of the little lights. Luckily it's hidden behind a shelf when you're sitting under the bed, so it's only noticeable if you choose purple, since you get a purple glow everywhere, except for one bright red LED.Except for that one little failed LED, the whole strip was simple to put up, looks awesome and the controller even has dimming and a timer so the lights can act as a night light that turns off after an hour. Perfect!

Unreliable
It looked nice when initially fit and it worked, however 9m out of the full 10m length no longer lights up. Due to a lack of product info it's difficult to figure out why it's stopped working. Will cutting it at the location of the malfunction and trying to use a connector to bypass the faulty joint fix it? Can't be sure because I can't tell what connector to buy. Specs don't say whether it's 2, 3 or 4 pin. Assuming it's 4 pin due to being RGB, is it 8mm or 10mm or something else? Is it worth the £10 connector cost? If not, then there's the hassle of uninstalling it to fit a replacement. Not to mention the time and effort needed to fit a replacement.Just not worth it.

Nice
Very nice and easy to put up, they stick well to the wall. Remote is a bit flimsy and the buttons don't always work first time, but my son is happy with it.

Works well for a while.
Easy to stick up and connect. Individual LEDs started to fail or change colour after a few months but for the money we paid, and the fact they were switched on daily, it was a reasonable product.

Utterly brilliant.
The media could not be loaded. These LED lights are marvellous. My son is over the moon. His old set packing in so I had to find replacements. These are so much better than the old design. One huge improvement is the fact that they are so incredibly sticky then were easy to put up. His old set kept coming unstuck and taking down. No danger of that with these. They are also incredibly bright. They just about give me an epileptic fit when changing the colour.NOTE: The video includes my sons Star/universe projector. That is not part of the LED set.Highly recommended anyway.

Great quality LEDS
Have purchased these several times. Can’t go wrong! So easy to set up and a great price considering the length of LEDS you get. Lights are bright, optional colours with the remote. Adhesion is strong and these stick well, very durable. Perform well and look really effective, especially in darker rooms!

Some of the lights are faulty
These would be 5 stars if they didn’t have sections of lights that stay on when turned off and stay as different colours when you do turn the lights back on (this happened within a week)
