Great vacuum
Fantastic vacuum but instructions not very clear & no answer from customer service (HOBOTLEGEE) or seller in UK. Emailed both.Had to guess most of the time. But getting there & very pleased with the item.

it's good but not sure it's £600 good especially when the fancy base unit costs extra.
I will admit I had not heard of the hobot brand before so I wasn't sure what to expect with this but retailing at £599 my expectations were set pretty high as the only comparison I can make is to my existing eufy x10 pro which retails for around £60-100 more than this depending on current promotions so it has quite a lot to measure up against.I found the setup and connection to the app to be straightforward and as a technical person the process was very simple and I had no issues. I think it's pretty well geared to those who are less experienced as well so anyone with a little tech savvy shouldn't have a problem but the manual was quite lacking.the usual caveats apply to this machine as it does to other robovacs so be sure to give it as much chance for success when it comes to doing the initial mapping and regular operation and remove any items which are not a permanent fixture so it can map everything out. you have some leeway to control the behaviour and alter its movements in the app so you should be able to avoid any major issues that prevent it from working properly within the first couple of uses and the lidar based detection is good so it handles obstacles well but it still isn't going to be 100% perfect all the time. .cleaning is pretty admirable and gets things mostly clean with just a little manual tidying needing in tough corners and tight spots if you want things to be totally spotless. the compaction feature makes it capable of going longer between needing to be emptied which is nice. we only really have hard floors downstairs which is the territory of my x10 so this has only had a chance to work with carpeted floors so unfortunately i can't comment on the mopping ability but it's a handy addition so we have the option of switching things up down the line if we need to.for our needs this base unit works very well and while it's quite expensive does at least prove to be a capable machine, if we were to be using it for hard floors and making use of the mop though I think we'd need the optional lulu washing station to get the most of it which is another £200 which i feel is a lot to ask for a unit the already costs close to other units that include a comparable base unit with the machine for less than the combined price of the D8 & lulu.

Great help for a busy household
Love, love, love this item. It's not brilliant at mapping, managed the lounge perfectly but struggled finding the kitchen. However once in there a very good job was made of washing and polishing the floor, going up to about 1.5" from the skirting board. The washing left the floor slightly damp and there was a clear difference between polished floor and not polished. The hoovering is fine and will get better as we get into the swing of having it working more often. There were obviously hairs around the brush that needed removing to help the hoovering, in a family of children and pets that's to be expected. All round, this is a great help and even with the quirks it's more than worth it. I have had a different one for about 5 years and it's been brilliant; this one is going to my daughter in law but if I needed a replacement I'd happily get this brand.

Life Changing
The media could not be loaded. We have a pet cat that sheds quite a bit of hair, leaves paw prints occasionally on the hard floor, and manages to drop cat litter outside of her box. We also have a mixture of carpet, wooden and tile floors, and rugs. We found that we were hoovering around once a day and cleaning the hard floors as needed (usually once a week). It was quite a bit of work and I've always fancied a robot vacuum and this one looked ideal. We found the Hobot to be very easy to setup. We use Android phones so downloaded the app and found it to be very intuitive. There's more features, and cleaning modes, than we use but the vacuum does everything we need and more. When we first ran the vacuum it mapped out our downstairs while cleaning. You can then see the map every time it runs and you can watch its progress in real time as it moves around the house. The vacuum does a great job. It can sense what type of floor surface it's travelling over so will vacuum the carpets and wash the floor if that's what you want it to do. It manages to suck up cat litter, dust, and hair. You can choose to clean hard floors with just water or add the Hobot branded detergent which we did. We run it everyday usually on the standard or deep cleaning mode. It normally takes between 30-40 minutes. It's a vacuum so obviously it's not going to be silent but it's quieter than our stand vacuum cleaner. The robot handles rugs with ease, it doesn't bash into things, and returns "home" once it's finished.A feature that I like is that if it encounters any problems it lets you know via the app, verbal notification, and email. Once it got stuck under a radiator, and once the brush got tangled with hair, but it lets you know exactly what the problem is. I'd say 99.9% of the time it finishes cleaning without any problems. If there are problem areas in your house you can tell the Hobot to avoid them if need be.Overall we couldn't be happier with this Hobot. I wish I'd ordered one years ago. It's really made a difference to the way we do housework. It's a fantastic piece of kit. Highly recommended.
