I do like it, but...
This is my first drone. I decided against a sub-250g drone because I wanted something more substantial and robust that I could use for work purposes, and I was willing to undertake the licencing and FPV membership to fly within CAA limits. I bought the HS600 because of the very good reviews on Amazon. Please be aware that the stated weight of this drone is 541g, which means that you will need an operator ID and a flyer ID if you are in the UK. Out-of-the-box it is limited to A3 airspace ("fly far from people"). You are not permitted to fly it in or near commercial, residential, industrial or recreational areas. You can fly in recreational areas if you obtain an Article 16 authorisation by joining one of the registered drone clubs. You could also take the A2 Certificate of Competence exam, which permits you to fly in A2 airspace ("near to people"). It is not legal to fly this in A1 airspace ("over people"), and it is unlikely that without qualifications you can fly it in your back garden.Back to the HS600 - almost from the outset I felt there was something not quite right about it. It is a good solid aircraft but the controls seem to have a slight, microsecond, delay in responding to inputs. When I started to fly higher and over longer distances (>200 feet, >500 feet) the screen refresh slowed and/or stopped. Curiously the little "radar" screen did show movement and orientation in real time, but the camera didn't.I'm sure there must be an issue with the wifi to cause these problems, but connectivity in itself has not been an issue and I particularly like the fact that if others have the HS Fly app installed on their devices they can also connect to the drone wifi and see and record images and video. The return-to-home feature is good and works well. I haven't used the tracking or other features as they aren't permitted in Article 16 flying under CAA regulations.I've come to quite like my HS600 and I've learned a lot.
