The media could not be loaded. Update: the company wasn’t going to fix the broken handle but they did replace the toaster after all the other stuff happened. We will see if this one lasts.Worked fine for a month or so then it stopped popping the bread up high enough to retrieve it. Had to buy some bread tongs. Then it wouldn’t stay on the setting you chose. Then it started unevenly toasting. Then it started to only really toast on one side. Then the lever broke.Contacted the manufacturer and they said they wouldn’t replace the lever because that was “artificial damage”. (???). Then they wanted a video of the bread not popping up. They said the bread I was using was too heavy. (Again, ???). Then they wanted another video showing the coils not heating up. The coils heat up but not enough on one side to toast anything. Currently waiting on the excuse for this problem…But it is also very flimsy, the inner rack that holds the bread is crooked and the bread falls to one side. It also gets VERY HOT to the touch.I bought the warranty on this toaster so I hope someone gives me some kind of resolution to this obviously faulty toaster.

I like my toast dry, medium brown, crunchy on the outside, and fluffy and tender on the inside. I was thrilled to see so many settings and different bread types, lengths, and widths this toaster claimed to accommodate. No more cramming bagels in narrow slots and cutting craft bread in half because they were too long--or worse, leaving half the bread hanging out, untoasted.The first two pieces of bread I put in the middle of the extra long slots, I chose a medium brown toast setting for white bread. It burned.When I tried again I put the bread slices all the way closest to me in the slots rather than the middle--they burned worse (that's why they tell you to toast in the middle if only toasting one or two slices rather than four at once).The first and second light toast settings left the bread anemic looking and gummy. The third setting is perfect. For white bread.It's a learning curve for each and every different type of bread since you really can't go by all the setting pictures.As for toaster pastries, I've burned every one. I have not tried English muffins or bagels yet--I keep forgetting to purchase them at the grocery store.Pros: extra long slots can accommodate 2 regular sized bread slices--or--an extra long craft bread slice in each slot. The cage inside the slits work well to accommodate a variety of widths. The cancel and pop-up buttons are responsive to light touch. The timer tells you how long you have before the toast will be rest.Cons: many pretty picture settings are not indicative of the actual degree of toasting.Reason I kept it: when I figured out how to get the toast the way I like it (even though it does not match the picture on the toaster settings), it toasts very well.

However, this toaster is so powerful, the settings must be played with for maximum effect. After burning several pieces of bread, the seller suggested that I use the gluten free setting which cuts off 20 seconds earlier. Apparently, using this setting reduces the toasting time by (+/-) 20%. After several back and forths with the seller (during which time I was offered a replacement), I finally managed a really nice pair of toasted slices, the seller granted me a partial refund on top of it all for any inconvenience. Very nice move. Classy. Thank you. I can't give the toaster 5 stars because the higher settings are just too hot; even on the gluten free setting, but since I have found the perfect sweet spot, it goes no lower than 4, well deserved stars. The eveness of both sides of the bread is truly a sight to behold, especially since several of the higher end brands can't achieve this. I searched YouTube and for all the bells and whistles on much more expensive brands, this one is the standout. This is all the money you'll need to spend.
