AKASO 2 x 1050mAh Rechargeable Action Camera Battery with USB Dual Charger for AKASO V50 Elite

Right, where do I start. I’m certainly no expert on action cameras, I’m not sponsored by Akaso and I haven’t received any free products. I bought the Akaso V50 action camera after an awful lot of deliberations and research as I’m usually a ‘Big Brand’ buyer. I have yet to review it as I haven’t had it that long. All I will say at the moment is it’s very good. What I wanted was a decent camera for recording some footage of trips with mates on our classic motorcycles for a lot less than GoPro prices. When I chose it, I knew I’d need extra batteries as the runtime isn’t brilliant, but for the dosh I accepted that. I was therefore disappointed with the reviews for these. I emailed Akaso and asked if they’d sorted the fitment issue. The response I had was that they were aware there was a problem with some batteries and they had tried to remove them from sale. I ordered this set on the strength of this but alas, when they turned up, they were still too tight in the camera. The new batteries are slightly wider (and I mean slightly - 0.5mm wider) than the originals and therefore tight in the camera. Rather than just return them, I thought I would try and find a solution as I wanted the extra batteries and charger. I contacted Akaso and they advised a fix. On the camera itself, when you open the battery compartment, there are two very thin self adhesive vertical strips either side of the battery slot to keep the batteries snug. They told me to remove both and the batteries will fit. I removed just one behind the up/down buttons (looking from the front of the camera, on the left) as I was concerned that the original batteries would then be loose. I used a very small flat screwdriver and long nose pliers to remove it but a small pointy knife and tweezers will work just as well (really easy to do). All the batteries now fit perfectly and not loose either. I wasn’t keen on messing with the camera itself but I can’t see it having any detrimental effect at all. You may wonder why the 5 stars as I had to fiddle. Akaso support were excellent with quick replies to several emails, the batteries / charger are fine and I now have a great camera, with extra batteries and a separate charger. I’ve included my photo which I sent to Akaso and they returned it with the arrows added to it showing where the strips are. I removed just the one on the right in the photo. Hope this helps.

The batteries do fit if you remove one of the adhesive strips as mentioned in another review, and once this is done they work just like those included! A very worthwhile purchase and used a lot on holiday! The external charger is a massive bonus and makes charging much easier than using the camera. Only one star reduced as the price is a little steep however it is worth it once you begin using them.

I have given a 5 star rating because when I informed Premium Distribution UK customer services the response though delayed was brilliant and the problem was corrected. I will definitely buy from this seller again when they officially start to sell the AKASO V50 Pro 1100mAh battery.

Very well pleased when researching all available info including all previous buyer comments.Separate battery charger seems very desireable but concerned about many reports that the included batteries with the charger are unusable in the camera without modifying the camera battery slot.Why cannot the charger be supplied without batteries to reduce unecessay cost or provide battery and charger with declared suitability.

Exactly as expected. Battery isn't the longest running on full charge but hey unfortunately I couldn't find any long life ones which fit v50 elite .. Hopefully there will be soon. I have 4 but I'm aware I'm probably going to need more to be absolutely covered. Maybe there will also be a multi socket available to accommodate 10 plus batteries..only time will tell ;)

I don't know whether they've changed the camera or battery but I bought these (albeit apprehensively) and they fit fine.

The battery last about 45-50mins on 4k video which is OK... BUT... When I put the battery in my Akaso V50 I already felt it is a bit tight. I wish I didn't push in it... When I tried to get it out it completely stuck and however I tried it didn't move. Eventually the top lip ripped off so now I don't even know how I will be able to take out without damaging the camera housing. :(( I am on my holiday and this may will mean I won't be able to use my camera as I intended as I ordered the extra batteries for the reason to change them during an adventure tour... Really disappointed...
