Moisture sucking goodness
Dessicant Silica Gel [DSG] is (in case you don't know) a hygroscopic form of sand. The little balls are highly porous and "absorb" water from its surroundings on a microscopic level - as such, they are great for keeping things dry!You will have seen them in swab tests, to absorb any moisture that made its way in to the test-strip package during manufacturing ...Personally I'm in to electronics, and to help prevent oxidisation/rusting of my components (esp. their leads) I keep them in sealed plastic [food] boxes ...to help protect them, I put a sachet of DSG in each box with the components :) ...A 1g sachet is just the right size for this purpose
