Top bit of kit
Needed something simple to cut up MDF moulding for a panelling project for angles. Saw this and thought I'd give it a go and pleased to report that it was really good for the price. I'm sure the angles aren't all 100% perfect but it did what I needed and the saw was pretty decent quality and has lasted for over 100 cuts of the MDF.I'd have no problems recommending this if you are looking to do a similar type job.

Very effective
Started using straight away after it arrived. It works a treat. It will work perfectly as long as you do the following-Screw it down to a worktop so that it doesn't move-Use your own panel saw-Ensure that whatever you are cutting is horizontally level with the mitre box-Ensure what ever you are cutting is upright at right angles and flash with walls of mitre box-use your own grips/clamps like in the pictures-as with all DIY, patienceThese are all best practice tips that apply to all mitre boxes and not just this one.Obviously the mitre box is PLASTIC so don't be silly!!!

Adequate but lacking quality.
Purchased this to cut down a picture frame for a project. It did the job but accuracy is not great and the mitre box is cheap plastic.. It has a habit of flexing and the saw has too much free play in the slots. If you then compensate by holding the saw against one side of the slot it will cut into the plastic mitre box and make things worse for the next cut.It did do the job after a couple of attempts but I wouldn't purchase another..

Great for cutting 100mm coving
Easy to set up and adjust for the size of coving you want to cut. The accompanying saw cuts the coving quite well, although I'd prefer a slightly finer cut. Does the job very well and at a very reasonable price.

then clamped the timber down but still not very good, and try as I might not to damage ...
Tried to make this work but to no avail, all I had to do was cut 4 pieces of 2" x 1" at 45 degrees and it was a struggle from the start, far to flimsy, I screwed it down to a piece of timber, then clamped the timber down but still not very good, and try as I might not to damage the slots, failed miserably so probably won't be any good for any future cuts, definitely looking round for something better, this was just a wast of money, might have worked better if the plastic it was made from was more substantial, but there you go.

Not what I expected
Not very good quality you can't cut a 45 degrees on thin and narrow wood because it keeps moving even with the clamps on

Requires basic sawing skill or willingness to learn under pressure
I'm not a talented carpenter and I was hoping that this would be an easy shortcut to the problem of being awful at sawing straight lines. It sort of is, but it assumes a basic level of competence that makes it more of an aid than a tool for the optimistic beginner. It is plastic and you can (I did) break the clips while closing them. The dividers wobble when sawing (even if screwed down) and you can quite easily saw into the side of the dividers if you're over excited at the prospect of a fully perpendicular world (I did this too). However the box has markedly improved my ability to cut in straight lines (the sharp saw probably helped too) so it is ultimately useful, just not in the instant, low-hassle way I had imagined. Should probably come with a warning like "Requires basic sawing skill or willingness to learn under pressure". Good, but not magic.
