Cheap, Reliable and Easy to Fit.
There are smaller, cheaper sensors around but this particular one - sold under various brand names for a very reasonable price - has been around since the dawn of time it seems. I bought one ten years ago and fitted it to my previous house and it worked fine for close on six years. In my new house I have four fitted for various lights outside and they all work perfectly.In size about the same as a half a tin of beans. Not invisible but you soon forget they are there. Come with approx half meter tails so plenty of wire to work with. Easy to fit as long as you know how to drill and plug.Overall a great solution if you want a dusk 'till dawn switch for some lighting.

Does the job well
Lots to choose from without any particular advantage of one over another but this is the second one of these I've bought for another job so it must be good enough.Pros- Lightweight- Simple to disassemble, wire and re-assemble- It works- If it were to fail then the active head could be exchanged without having to re-wire it- Set up and test very easy. I used a woolly hat over the bag supplied to test it and it worked- It switches with very little time delay or hysteresis and comes on at dusk (not day light or pitch black) and switches off at dawn again not day light.Cons- No gland supplied- The whole assembly especially the mounting bracket isn't very strong. Strong enough but don't be heavy handed tightening the screws.Overall it does the job well

Brilliant product.
Amazing bit of kit. IT WORKS. For the first time in a long time iv bought something that actually works. it was so easy to install and it runs all my outside lighting brilliantly pity all products aren’t this good. Good price came in time well packaged I couldn’t ask for anything more

Early lighting up time
This sensor has been working well for about six months since installation and there is no problem other that it lights up way too early. It's on a south facing wall with no appreciable shade but it still switches on about an hour before I would have expected. Other than that, fine.

Still fits the old base of 5 or six years ago
Great I was able to still get this exact unit at a good price just a matter of screwing old out and new in it had failed after about 6 years but its open to all the elements so it did well

Works perfectly .
I bought four of these for use with my front and back garden electrics . Easy to fit but in instructions it says you have to run it through a setup sequence once wired . As I did it in daylight I thought I had made a mistake as it says lights will come on in that warm up period . I tried different top parts as I had 4 but the lights did not come on . Should not have panicked as come first low light it worked perfectly so ignore that instruction .

Suitable Replacement
Following the failure of my old photocell I bought this kit but just used the plug in unit with it's standard connector. It brought my lighting system back to life and has worked well in the month or two that I have had it.Update 22/6/2012The replacement reviewed above is still going great but another identical unit has failed and dare I say it, I found an identical replacement far cheaper from another supplier (To*******on)
