Improved physical print and the English translation continues to impress
Though the first volume had some print issues for me, the second fixed the issue, and the third continues the trend of being a fantastic piece of physical media. The translation continues to be excellent, capturing the feel of the story perfectly, in a way that those of us familiar with the original misago.org fan translations from decades ago will have no trouble adjusting to it-- I'd go so far to say I even PREFER this new official release, which is extremely thoughtful with translators and editors who work hard to capture the same vibes of the original Japanese language version and with great success. This volume covers Alpha's year long travels around the gentle twilight of a (possibly) post-apocalyptic japan, meeting many new people and seeing so many different sights. It depicts the act of both traveling and returning home with such grace and warmth that you can almost feel the salt-tinged wind and the softness of the bed as you read it.Ashinano-san is a masterful storyteller, and Yokohoma Kaidashi Kikou while not a runaway blockbuster hit, is a manga that has touched many people's lives permanently, and echoes of it can be felt in so many modern mangaka; countless creators have cited his works as being a huge inspiration, and even as just a reader it YKK changed my outlook on life permanently after I first started reading it back in the early 2000s. It's a series not to be missed, and I am excited for the next volume of the omnibus to release.

Evocative as always!
The way the mangaka draws scenery is just so good! There is such a feeling of... Reality? Not, like, photorealistic, but more... Evocative is the only word I can think of. Just some inked lines and you start remembering the smell of the sea.

love this series
Beautiful art, slow, comfortable pace, a bittersweet tale about the world coming to a quiet end. This book is the forerunner of all those "last tour at the end of the world" books that seem to be catching on lately, and it is a true classic. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, Captivating
I first read Yokohama Shopping Trip years ago and it has lingered in my mind ever since. Getting to re-read this beautiful series again in such a high-quality format brings me such joy. It's almost indescribable how these pages filled with pastel colors and sparse words can invoke feelings that only beautiful artwork can. I look forward to each new edition very much

Superb artwork. Phophetic of a future we may be rushing into.
For a series that was released in 1995, these are surprisingly contemporary, besides being phophetic of a future we may be rushing into. As well, the artwork is quite simply superb! I enjoy these stories, told from the perspective of a humanoid robot and a few humans as the world is ending. They are light and lively, a tribute to humanity's ability to adapt and find pleasure and purpose in the simple things that used to mean so much to all of us. I try to slow down while I read to keep from finishing the 476 pages too soon, but it's over so quickly. (The curse of graphic novels.) Then I wait months for each new translation installment to come out.
