POWERTEC 70227 6-Inch Blast Gate for Dust Collector, Dust Collection Fittings, Pack of 1

This is a well-constructed, 6" blast gate. I mounted easily to the dust collector with a Powertec rubber adapter boot. It operates smoothly. I like it better than the plastic blast gates that I have used for years.

Reasonably heavy duty. Lots of air leak when in closed position at the slide. Had to put pieces of take to take the gap. Not a problem removing and reapplying the tape if the slide is only intermittently used, but would have been 5 stars if the fit was tighter or had a gasket.

I bought a 6" and a 3" both leak around the "blade" A simple gasket would save a lot of cfm. They work, but leave some to be desired in my opinion.

As long as you install it correctly (with thumb screw pushing blastgate TOWARD dust collector), it works well. Since my shop dust cyclone plumbing is 6" PVC, alive had to put a couple wraps of duct tape around the blast gate insert, before inserting it into the pvc. A very conservative squirter of silicone sealant at the bottom before pushing it home creates a perfect seal.

The aluminum casting allows for easy modification to improve the sealing. the tolerance of the fit between the gate and the casting is quite loose, which is better than tight fit. I was able to improve the fit, while keeping the function correct. My use was a custom application.

Works exactly the same as my other blast gates.My only complaint is that the sliding gate is made of soft metal and when you slide the gate open and closed the gate easily bends where it is thin at the open side and I have to bend it back straight all the time.

Anyone who buys a blast gate for dust collection that is not self cleaning is a fool. Sorry, but true. These leak a little, but unless you DIY or pay 10 times more, can't beat them. They do leave it up to you to figure how to mount it.

The steel gate is very loose inside the housing, it’ll leak air and also get clogged with dirt. (It’s 1.2mm sheet in a 3.2mm gap).The hole in the gate is not round (and not as shown in the photos), which creates turbulence, reducing airflow.I can probably get them working well enough, but then I could also have made my own from scratch if fiddling about was what I wanted to spend my weekend on.
