Brings the Roman Republic to life!
This exemplary overview of Rome’s early history covers how a modest city morphed into an empire in several centuries, then descended into chaos through corrupt politicians. The compelling writing and stellar research will appeal to readers of all ages. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the fascinating stories of the heroes and villains that made Rome what it was. I love how this book highlights how Rome's history has implications for us today. Highly recommend!

This was a gift for my teen great- Ephesus, and he zipped through it and said he enjoyed it.

Great introduction
While this is not an in-depth dive into the history of the Roman Republic, this book is a good starting point for learning about this time period. It provides a brief overview of the time periods and is easy to read. While those who have researched Roman History extensively may not feel like they have learned anything new, this book is exactly what the title promises, an enthralling overview of the Roman Republic.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Skips 50 years at a time like a Junior High Textbook
Not great. Blurs through decades in a sentence, an entire war in a few words. If groups want to learn in a serious fashion about the rise & fall of the Roman Republic or the later Roman Empire, read a more serious academic work. Much of this text reads like a high school text, although its not mentioned anywhere in the publishers information, this should be a book for teenagers. I’m looking for an alternative as we speak.
