Good value and easy to use with excellent instructions
I bought this kit not because I'm diabetic (so I couldn't claim the VAT exemption) nor because I'm worried that I might be, but simply because I like to be informed about my health. Some conditions can lie hidden for years and only become apparent when they're checked for. Examples are high cholesterol and abnormal blood pressure. I feel that it's sensible to take a proactive approach to self-monitoring.Checking your blood glucose levels is pretty easy using the Codefree kit. Everything you need is included in the box, together with plentiful instructions. They are well worth reading through before you test for the first time.Actual testing is easy. You take a lancet from the pack, put it into the lancing device and twist its end off to expose the point. Then you take a test strip from the sealed container and slip it into the meter. That turns it on and readies it. You have three minutes to take a blood sample and apply it to the test strip. I was a bit apprehensive about the lancing at first, but in practice it's almost painless; certainly far less than an injection. Once you've got a blood droplet that's about a couple of millimetres in diameter, let the test strip soak it up, wait five seconds, and you've got your reading. I took a fasting test before breakfast and another two hours later and was happy with the results. It's well worth logging your readings, and in theory you can uses the meter's memory to do this. In practice, I think it's better to keep a written record. A more expensive meter would probably be able to talk to an app and keep the records for you.At this price, I think the kit is excellent value. Replacement lancets and test strips are reasonably priced, too.

GOOD VALUE MONITOR.
I bought this to replace an old one that stopped working. It does the job, very easy to use and read. Well worth the money and saves having to make lot of doctor visits.

Easy to use, does the job and reasonably priced
I have used the monitor to test blood glucose levels and it seems to be accurate. It would have been good if more test strips and lancets had been included in the kit.

Fab,good value for money, easy to assemble and use and minor discomfort.
Amazing product. It is easy to assemble and use. I dislike needles and was apprehensive to test my blood sugar. Even though I haven't got diabetes I was curious about my sugar levels. This machine is light and has everything needed in this kit. I find it relatively easy and with little discomfort to retrieve a blood sample from both my forearm and finger using Option 3 or setting 3. This is modern, good value for money and the lancets and strips are relatively cheap..Thanks Highly recommended for users who need to test often or like myself who are interested in their blood glucose levels.

and this has been progressively getting worse over the years
I'm not diabetic and this meter seems reliable enough for my needs. I purchased this as have been getting what I presumed were 'hypoglycemia' type symptoms a few hours after meals, and this has been progressively getting worse over the years. I already eat 'low GI' with plenty of protein and keep off the sweets, as have noticed that 'letting myself loose' diet-wise, makes me feel much worse (and gain weight like there's no tomorrow).Anyway, this all came to a head a few weeks ago whilst working away and suffered a nasty 'hypo' in the late afternoon (sending a management type person to the snacks machine for a rare choc bar probably has not done my career much good, but 20 years to retirement, so halfway there!). So I've decided to purchase a glucose meter and do some experiments with various foods. Turns out that I may have a problem with both high and low levels, so off to the Docs I shall go. I do think that with the Western style diet and lifestyle, that occasionally checking sugars and blood pressures, is a good habit to get into.

Not so impressed
A case of you get what you pay for? I don't find the readings from my monitor to be consistent enough. I bought it as a cheaper replacement for a different brand from Boots that was proving expensive. The readings from this new machine are significantly higher. I have compared the two quite regularly and this is always the case. I have also tried taking two readings, one immediately after the other, from this monitor, only to find that they are never the same. Not convinced at all that this monitor gives more than a rough indication of blood sugar level.

Codefree Blood Glucose Monitor
After a few severe after-meal crashes, I decided I'd keep an eye on my glucose levels by taking regular readings. I'm not diabetic so don't qualify for one from my doctor. This monitor is very easy to use. I bought extra test strips and for the first few tests I took 3 readings, one after the other from the same drop of blood. The results seem to vary, but not by much. For example, I may get 3.7, 3.9 and 4.1, all from the same pin prick. This isn't a problem for me as I'm only using it to monitor my general levels.Overall I'm very happy with this monitor.

Simple To Use Blood Glucose Monitoring Device - This Pre-T2 Newbie Recommends
Having recently been diagnosed as prediabetic, I am new to monitoring blood glucose levels along with planning dietary needs and consumption to avoid peaks and troughs. This device is simple to use, which is appreciated as the amount of information one has to assimilate can be overwhelming! As only ten lancets and ten test strips are included with the pack, I'd recommend ordering extras straight off. I haven't used any other monitoring device, so can't offer comparison but this is a neat little gadget in a helpful little carry case. So far, I'm very happy with it and would recommend it.
