Savage
Ive been using chainsaws for last 30 years, tree surgery, felling and the like. i bought this one for Cutting wood at home to run my boiler on (wood is my sole source of heating.)I've used a lot of chainsaws but never a mains electric one.Been using this one for a week.Initial impression; The saw is well made, tough, well thought out.looks good, its matt black rather than orange but I guess if you lose it in the woods you could always find your way back to it back from the power point.Good weight/balance.Oil level is visible on side of tank which is great because youre never going to check the oil when the petrol runs out.Good trobust cable of a useful length.Performance:if you are someone who often puts their foot on branches to stop them getting away while your cutting them then all that is about to change. No half measures here, the saw is either full revs or off.i don't know what the RPM is but I reckon if would scare the pants off my industrial angle grinder. It has tons of power. I mean if you used it at night you might see street lights dimming.I'm serious, I mean after a week my log pile is now just dust blowing around in the wind.Good thing is, if you did cut your leg off with it or the piece of wood youre cutting spins out of the pile and breaks your jaw there's no immediate worry about where or when to put the saw down.Soon as you let go the trigger it brakes the chain, there's no inertia at all. it's off.Just lay right back and wait until someone finds you.In a nutshell;Look out, this saw is not for pussies.if it's your first ever chainsaw....good luck.

Buy with confidence
Living in a rural location, a good chainsaw is essential. My husband has always gone the petrol 2-stroke route, but he decided to take a chance on an electric job, especially one made by Oregon.I have to say he is impressed with the power (2400 W) 32 HP, and size 40cm/16inch of cut.Although mainly constructed of plastic, the build quality is sturdy. It will cut through thick logs like the proverbial hot knife through butter, provided the blade is correctly tensioned, which can be achieved easily without needing a screwdriver and spanners.Other plus points include a 3-year warranty, a long 6-metre cable, and an original chain that seems to cut forever without needing to be sharpened. Make no mistake, the Oregon CS1400 is a quality bit of kit and good value for money. Buy with confidence.

Impressive chainsaw
Over the years I've had every type of chainsaw going. All in their own way have their pros & cons. Petrol is a lot of flaff mixing up the petrol/oil, starting and cleaning to ensure it runs properly and I generally find after a while you have issues - but you do get the power! Cordless/battery are useful for small jobs and convenience , but a charge doesn't last long and the batteries are expensive to renew, and they are underpowered. Now this little Oregon machine would seem to have the best of all worlds, as long as you are happy with the cord! It's well made and robust and has some useful safety features - chain brake and also a trigger stop which stops the chain the moment you release the trigger. It certainly is powerful and it's 16" bar will deal with most jobs, unless you want to fell an oak tree !!! I bought mine out of Amazon warehouse for a smidge over £80 and consider it a bargain (includes 3year warranty). Reassuringly Oregon brand as opposed to a brand 'X' . Definitely recommend.

Absolutely brilliant
l have always used a petrol chain saw, but this does what it says, l only had 2ft logs and have been using all afternoon, this is a fantasic bit of kit, no damp start required, just plug in and go, amazing so 5 stars
