Why do you need to change the bottle every 3 months?
Can I boil tap water in kettle then use that when it's lukewarm?
There is no expiry date? How should I know if i can still use it?
What is the bottle made of? need to know if it's polyethylene (pe) or not and can take 100 degrees celsius - want to put it in a bottle warmer.

it actually works!
NeilMed Sinus Relief Kit=================This is the NeilMed Original Kit, which includes a squeezy bottle and 60 small sachets of saline nasal rinse. I was extremely dubious when I got this for the missus, but my missus is currently suffering from an extremely bad cold that won't go away and is now on antibiotics and the doctor also recommended getting a nasal rinse. This brand is the same one in our local pharmacy albeit the price is a lot better online. It's actually very simple to use. The bottle is actually a lot bigger than I expected from the listing pics and holds up to 240 ml of either bottled water, filtered water or boiled 5+ mins and cooled to body temp to lukewarm water. To use, fill with appropriate water, add sachet, shake. Then simply press to squirt and tilt your head slightly towards the side that's not being squirted into and the water goes in one nostril and comes out the other nostril! Since your ear, nose and throat are all connected, you might get some residual water going the wrong way, you just spit any out.It looks absolutely disgusting when it works - I saw a big long trail of green gloopy slime pushed out by the water whilst I was supervising the missus (she insisted) - so have your tap running while squirting so you don't have to look at any discharge any longer than necessary. The missus is a convert, I’m actually thinking about getting one for myself too. Currently selling for 12.99. This product is sold by many resellers as well as in different variations - available in bottle only, bottle and 60 saline sachets, bottle and 120 sachets and packs of sachets also sold separately. There is a big warning that the squeezy bottle should be replaced every 3 months. I'm assuming due to possible build up of dangerous levels of microbes growing inside the rinse bottle. So I'm not sure why they don't make cleaning it any easier? Nothing on whether this could be cleaned/sanitised via dishwasher? Also no brush included to clean the inside tube.Going through the forums, there appear to be two company suggested methods - a small blob of fairy or similar to the bottle, holding your finger (hopefully you’ve cleaned it first) over the opening in the cap and shaking the bottle vigorously. Then squeeze the bottle hard to allow the soapy solution to clean the interior of the tube and the cap and empty out the bottle completely. The other is to rinse with water and microwave the bottle parts for at least 40 seconds. The company appears to also recommend *not* boiling the bottle for sterilisation - the plastic probably won't hold up to the heat (in which case it's probably best not to dishwash this either). Some hidden gotchas if you don't read the manual thoroughly - there’s a warning not to use plain tap water or water without the salt saline sachet. There’s also a tip to tilt your head after cleaning and gently blow your nose to evacuate any water stuck up your nose, otherwise for some people you may get a water discharge hours after cleaning your nose(!). Also keep your mouth open and breathe normally while cleaning and to stop immediately if there's any ear pain/discomfort.

Effective and Easy to Use
The NeilMed Sinus Rinse Original Kit has been a game-changer for me. It's incredibly easy and straightforward to use....and it works wonders in clearing my nasal passages. I was a bit apprehensive at first, but the squeeze bottle design makes the process simple and quick. The pre-measured sachets are convenient, ensuring you get the right mixture every time. I noticed a significant improvement in my breathing, especially during allergy season. It’s really effective at clearing out congestion and leaving my nose feeling refreshed. The only downside is that it can be a bit tricky to get the bottle completely dry after use. It requires a bit of patience to make sure it’s fully clean and dry, but this is a small price to pay for how well the product works.Overall, I highly recommend the NeilMed Sinus Rinse for anyone dealing with nasal congestion. It’s an essential part of my routine now!

Great for sinus rinsing, it really works!
This is a great kit that makes rinsing your sinuses a lot easier than other methods! The instructions are clear and easy to follow and it’s really quick to do. It helps clear blocked/uncomfortable sinuses and reduces sinus pain. The kit is great value and contains the bottle as well as a good supply of the sachets. I’d highly recommend it but also recommend not using it just before bed as it can feel strange when lying down if it hasn’t fully emptied out of your sinuses!

Can not use it with ear infection or blocked ears
I wanted to return it as I had blocked ears. Could not send unopened pack back. Amazon returns said to phone maker which I was reluctant to do. The wife used it but it's a bit laborious to use and to clean afterwards.

Product suitability
Ideal for the issue I have & at a reasonable cost. Usage is in regards to a nasal issue.
Preparation: Wash your hands thoroughly. Fill the clean squeeze bottle with distilled, micro-filtered, or previously boiled and cooled water up to the indicated fill line. Mixing: Add one premixed saline packet to the water in the bottle. Secure the cap and shake gently to dissolve the powder completely. Rinsing: Standing over a sink, tilt your head slightly to one side and insert the bottle tip into one nostril. Squeeze the bottle gently to allow the solution to flow through the nasal passages and out the opposite nostril. Repeat on the other side. Post-Rinse: Blow your nose gently to clear any remaining solution and mucus. Wash the bottle, cap, and tube thoroughly and allow them to air dry.
Safety Warning
Use only as directed. Do not use tap water for nasal irrigation. Use distilled, micro-filtered, or previously boiled and cooled water to prevent infections. Ensure the rinse bottle is clean before each use. Do not use if the nasal passage is completely blocked or if you have an ear infection. Consult your physician if you experience pressure in the ears, or if symptoms persist or worsen. Keep out of reach of children. For adults and children aged 4 and up. Adult supervision required for children.

While it's possible to clean the inside of the bottle and nozzle using soap & water, or a dishwasher, it would be almost impossible to remove every last microbe. In the short term, having a few microbes is safe & acceptable. In the long run, a biofilm of hard-to-remove bacteria could begin to grow in parts of the nozzle or bottle which resist removal using standard cleaning methods (soapy water/dishwasher). Some of these microbes would still be safe to inhale, whereas others may cause illness. Eventually, while squeazing the bottle, you might dislodge a part of the biofilm from an insufficiently cleaned bottle, and this would then be jetted into your nasal cavity where they could cause a serious infection of the cavity and/or sinuses that sit in close proximity to the eyes and brain. While certain people's 3-month-old bottle may still be safe to use, there's no way of telling which peoples bottle is turning into a health hazard (without analysis of the bottle in a lab). Indeed, many users may be cleaning and sanitising the bottle very effectively, using microwaves and sterilising fluids, but even with this care, there will no doubt be undetected cases where a bottle does start to harbour dangerous microbes (inspite of the users best efforts and confidence in their cleaning skills). Changing it every 3 months, even if regular washing and sanitising of the bottle takes place, provides an additional safety margin to prevent ill health. And, because these bottles are recommended by doctors and health care practitioners to patients, there must also be a recognition that not all patients will be capable of cleaning the bottle thoroughly, or know that you shouldn't wash it with your dirty, tuna-covered dinner plates in the sink. Some may not even be aware of the dangers of an improperly cleaned sinus rinse device. Binning or recycling a bottle after 3 months may seem wasteful. However, I'd argue that when it comes to devices used for medical purposes (and a relatively invasive one, squrting water up your nose towards your sinuses), the consequences of a contaminated bottle could be severe. I believe personally that it is acceptable and desirable to opt for disposable devices in these limited situations. In situations where there aren't the same hazards of ill health, I believe it's perfectly reasonable and desirable to opt for infinitely reusable products (for example, reusable straws and reusable coffee cups). In those cases, saving money and not being wasteful are the priority. Especially when your using the sinus rinse on an ill, elderly or vulnerable person, someone who trusts that you're doing the best you can for their health, I'd want to take every precaution necessary to avoid making them even more unwell and watching them suffer because I didn't want to replace the bottle periodically."}},{"@type":"Question","name":"Can I boil tap water in kettle then use that when it's lukewarm?","acceptedAnswer":{"@type":"Answer","text":"You can use Tap water it should be boiled for 3 min.
