Mochi is filled with red bean paste, not hazelnut, so it does not taste like Nutella. If you were looking for something similar, this is not it. I actually find Nutella too sweet, which is why I prefer things like mochi. Mochi is sweet, but not as sweet as American desserts.

Q: How is the best way to store the mochi once the package is opened?

In your belly. Seriously though, store it in the original package in the fridge

Q: Would a bag of glutinous rice flour at 16oz make as many mochi cakes as in this package?

A 16oz bag would make more, these are small about the size of an Oreo cookie.

Q: Are these gluten free?

Unsure. "Glutinous" rice flour is actually gluten-free. However, the box does note that the mochi may be made in a factory where it may come in contact with gluten products.
