'Coverage area' illustration is misleading
I really wanted to love this heater, but if we had it to do over, we would have bought the 6,000 watt version rather than the 4,000 watt version. The illustration that shows how much of an area is heated is misleading. We have this heater mounted directly above an outdoor sectional couch on a back porch, and it's exactly 7 ft. from the heater to the seat of the couch. The heater is effective at providing heat for the two people sitting directly under it, but very little heat extends 'outward' in any direction as the pictures indicate. You can't even sit off to one side, like 3 or 4 ft. away and feel much of anything. That's not what the illustration would have you believe. In fact, the illustration shows that the area heated is 130 sq. st. - but based on our experience, I would say that's not even close. It's literally about 30-40 sq. ft. of the area that receives any meaningful heat.We didn't buy the 6,000 watt version because we thought it would be too hot, but unfortunately, that probably would have been the way to go. So if you do buy this heater, buy more wattage than you think you'll need. Overall, this has been a disappointing purchase given the cost of the heater.

Good Heater for a Screened Porch in New England
When I bought this heater, I found it difficult to get information for my application, hence I'm writing my first amazon review, to help others who want to buy this, but can't get the info they need.I bought the 4000W model of this heater to use in a 12'x14' screen porch I just added to my house. I live in Massachusetts, and I wanted to extend the use of the screened porch. The porch has one solid wall (against the house), one 5' wall (with screen above it), and two fully screened walls. The unit is installed on the ceiling parallel to the wall of the house, about 11' from the floor. If you have ever sat near one of these heaters at a restaurant, you know how they work. You can feel the heat, it takes the edge off of a cold day, but you may still need a light jacket or sweatshirt.Overall, I am very happy I installed a heater in my screened porch, and this 4000W unit heater has worked great.Pros:- The one 4000W unit I had installed gives off enough heat for my porch. You can feel the heat within a minute or so of turning it on, and it's enough to take the edge off and let us be comfortable. Will it let us use the porch in mid-January, when it's below freezing out? No. Will it let us use the porch in the spring and fall, when the temps are in the 40-70 degree F range? Yes. It's September and we've already used the heater on the cold mornings, when the temp was ~50 F.- As expected, the heat is directional, and it warms things (people) more than the air. The unit can be adjusted (tilted) to aim it better to where people are sitting. For my porch, this unit covers the main seating areas. If you stand in a corner, out of the direct line of the heater, you won't feel the heat. If you sit at the table or on the couch, where the unit is aimed at, you'll feel the heat.- Installation instructions were good (installation was done by a licenses electrician).- Unit looks sleek.- When it's on, it creates a subtle orange glow.Cons:- The manual/web-info doesn't discuss the on/off switch. My electrician used a typical (but 240v rated) white toggle on/off switch, like a light switch. This heater should really be controlled by a timed switch, like hot-tubs, saunas, etc have. It's easy to accidentally leave this on, as the glow isn't that bright in daylight. Given the power it uses, and that it creates heat, a timed on/off switch is the safer answer. I've searched for such a switch, and I haven't found one that works for 240v and 20amps. I called the company and they make a controller that I think will work, BH3130010, but I'm not sure. This controller is $250 (ouch) and the on-line spec isn't that clear (and certainly amazon's description is lacking, it says it's rated for 120v). The Bromic company website should have an application-note addressing a timer-switch/controller that works with this heater. Minus one star for this.Note that this is a 240v unit, and requires its own circuit breaker. Make sure your electrical panel can handle another breaker at 240v.I bought an Amazon open-box unit, which saved me more than $70. Several open-box units were available, I chose one that was "like-new, original packaging" and it was just that. Other than the box being re-taped, it looked like it had never been opened.I highly recommend a heater for a screened porch in a cold climate, and this unit is working great for my porch.

Great Product!!…one issue
Love this heater it doesn’t really match the strength as some of their design pictures show for spacing but I find this 4000 Watt model works great for our needs. Glad I did not mount it up in the far corner diagonally. Only small issue I have is when we turn it on it holds moisture somehow and when you turn it on it eventually drops hot droplets of water which has burned me a few times nothing serious but something to be aware of if you have children.

Shipped with broken element
I would love to give the Bromic Heater a higher rating but I've had a bit of an awful experience. The good part is that the heater "looks" amazing on my brand new patio. The bad part is that I can't use it. The short is that the heater arrived with a broken element. BBQ Island, the distributor, has been great at trying to resolve this but so far I've been shipped 3 broken elements and the 2 that have been in tact have been the incorrect size. Unfortunately you can't run down to Home Depot and purchase one of these so I can't find a place in Denver that I can buy one out of my own pocket. Bummer to have such an expensive heater that doesn't work.

toasty in the tundra
hunted forever on a new heat lamp for the porch .. live in Minnesota .and the winters get cold ...minus 15 degrees sort of cold... we are smokers and I will not allow any smoking in the house..had a 4000 watt installed in my porch..12 × 10 with windows on three sides ....when you turn this on ,it is kicking out heat in as little as a few minutes. AnD very comfortable. I am writing this from my porch and it is currently 7 degrees outside now .. definitely recommend...
