This Lunch container was perfect for daycare lunches for my son. However the thermos is way expensive and over price. Wish I didn't pay so much But I needed the size and it had good reviews.

I wanted a thermos to take soup to work for lunch. I looked at many possibilities here on Amazon and chose this product for two reasons: (1) the reviews said it would keep food warm for many hours and (2) it had the widest available mouth.Right out of the box, it is a very nice looking thermos. The outside is smooth and shiny, and the blue color is gorgeous. It has a handle on top that is comfortable to use. It has a good seal- I had no issue with leaks despite transporting soup. It also comes with a folded up spoon that fits inside the inner cap, which is a nice plus.I used it for the first time today. I filled it with boiling water and let it heat up. After 10 minutes, I filled it with boiling hot soup. I sealed it up immediately and took it to work. Note that I did not place it in an insulated bag of any type. It sat in my tote bag in my office, which was 72ºF. Five hours later, the soup was at room temperature. That is not adequate and so I will be returning it.As for the wide mouth, that makes it very easy to clean. It still isn't bowl-like, however, so eating directly out of it is awkward, especially as you get toward the bottom. The thermos does include a top that can be used as a bowl, and that works perfectly well. However, if you want to take everything home to clean rather than wash it at the office, if you use the top as a bowl, you now have a dirty item to transport. You'll have to find some kind of bag to put it in so that it doesn't get your briefcase or whatever dirty unless you want to carry it in one hand all the way home. This is probably true for just about every thermos; I plan to buy an insulated lunch bag along with my next thermos and that will solve the problem.Overall, it's a very attractive thermos with nice features. However, it doesn't do the one thing it's made for- keep food hot- so I would not recommend buying this product.
