Out of the package, I popped in my NIKON battery, and plugged it into the wall... LED glows Red to indicate charging, and a couple of hours later, the LED was Green, indicating fully charged.Yes, it is cheap, yes it seems flimsy.. but what do you expect for a couple of bucks? Does it work, yes... I cannot attest to longevity, but I've used it to charge 3 batteries so far, and it works flawlessly (so far).The addition of a car-charger is a nice touch, so we can charge batteries in the vehicle while we are out and about... no more "oh, no... the battery is almost dead"...I purchased this charger at the same time as two additional batteries... It charged the batteries (new pair, as well as the original Nikon battery) just fine... I'm very pleased to have a spare charger (and batteries) handy!

Got this charger sooner than expected, so shipped quickly. I tried it out right away after my camera has been dead for the past 2 months. In about an hour, i had about half charge! Man did it feel good to set the settings and hear the startup sound of the lens =] Haven't tried the car charger yet, but will definitely keep it at hand in case I need it, and I have run into occasion when I'm going to an event and find out my camera is dying and I need to steal every last bit of power I can!Some things I looked for when I was thinking about buying it/once I got it:-I have a Nikon CoolPix S3000, so it works with Nikon S3000-when you plug it in and it's charging, the light is just solid red. Don't worry if it's not blinking, mine was just a stead red and it was definitely charging, so don't worry =]-Maybe it's because of the camera model, but my battery was held in snug. Didn't have to worry about it popping out, which it shouldn't if it's placed in correctly-There's no paper insert telling you about the item, like if it was supposed to blink etc. You know, the paper that everyone shoves back in the box all crumpled until something goes wrong and you go fishing for it again? I was looking for that when I didn't know how to tell if it was charging or not.. but have no fear! It may not look like a fancy namebrand charger, but it does the job.I'll put in an update after I see if the charge holds like from the original charger. But every thing looks good so far!

I bought this charger for use with my kids' Nikon CoolPix S3000 cameras. I was disappointed to find that the charger arrived in filthy condition with the clamshell packaging unsealed and with mold and mildew encasing the product. There was an insect cocoon attached to the charger wires.My thought is that this product languished in a damp corner of some warehouse for a long time before being sold and shipped to me. I'm generally not squeamish but I have to admit that I was put off by this. I didn't want to expose my family or myself to mold or insect larvae from some foreign country as I attempted to clean the product. At last, I decided that I would keep this charger. I paid a very low price and it would probably not be worth the personal time or shipping cost to return it to Amazon.Alas, I donned disposable vinyl gloves and a face mask and performed a thorough cleaning of the charger and cord with disinfectant. I inserted the battery and plugged it into an AC outlet. The indicator light is on and the charger appears to be working. We will see what happens and I will update this review when the charge cycle is complete.Update:After an overnight of charging the camera battery, this charger has successfully reconditioned the battery. My kids had left the camera plugged into the computer USB port for several days and overcharged the battery. I thought the battery damaged. Since the battery is not reconditioned, i.e., fully discharged and recharged, while charged through the camera port, I needed a reconditioning charger to make certain that the battery was not permanently damaged.I can now confirm that this charger, despite the unseemly condition in which it arrived, is a very good performing charger for the Nikon CoolPix cameras. I am upgrading my review from three stars to four stars.It doesn't get five stars because (1), the indicator light turns red upon starting the charge but it never turns green when the battery is charged. It flickers from red to yellow to green instead of passing clearly through the stages from red to yellow to green, (2) the car adapter cord is made of very low grade wire and (3) my charger does not look like the one pictured in the description. Mine is gray and black and is somewhat smaller than the one shown. Although it works fine with my CoolPix camera, it states that it is for Olympus brand cameras.If you're looking for a low cost, good performing charger for the CoolPix cameras and you don't mind tolerating some minor inconveniences such as I have described, then this would be a good buy and the price couldn't get much better.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this unit!! It plugs directly into any wall receptacle . No messing with cords and such. Just pull out the prongs on the unit and plug it in. Add the battery and let it charge. It has a light that turns green indicating the battery is fully charged.My original charger was much larger and had a long cord that had to be plugged in. I couldn't leave it out because the cord was always in my way. The last time I used it, I wrapped the cord around it and put it away. As luck would have it, when I needed it again, I couldn't find it! I forgot where I put it. I needed the battery charged right away and couldn't find one locally so bought this little unit. I was surprised at how compact it is! It even came with a car charger (which I don't need). Plugged it in, popped in the battery and a short time later, my battery was ready to go.As always, whenever you replace something you can't find, you find it. I did find my original charger a few days after getting this one but I'll be getting rid of the original. No more cords for me! Would definitely recommend.
