Great value in comparison : helps dog's skin
We were looking for organic kelp for our little 8lb schnauzer mix. He was rescued at around 8 weeks and has suffered from allergy, skin, and digestive issues. More recently we stopped feeding him bagged commercial dog food because he was developing allergies to (at that time) an unknown ingredient. I thought it would be best to control the variables in his diet to figure out what was tolerated well, and what wasn't. So basically what he consumes isn't a huge variety, mostly sweet potato based along with a protein source like salmon or mackerel. There was some concern that he wasn't receiving all of the nutrients and minerals in order to keep his skin from flaking (seborrhea). We were paying the same amount for a small, medication-sized container of a kelp-based supplement from the vet. This 3lb container has lasted us almost 7 months and is still 2/3 full. The pieces are small and somewhat "crunchy" (not dry and flakey like I expected); this isn't an issue by any means. The kelp seems to be small enough in order to be absorbed. The smell seems very natural (somewhat like how the sea or ocean smells) - this led me to feel that the product was minimally processed and retained its nutrient value. There is a convenient measuring scoop on the inside that corresponds with the suggested servings, by animal weight, on the label. If you do have a concern that the kelp is too tough for your animal to chew (although I really don't see this as a legitimate concern), the pieces rehydrate well by letting them soak up a little coconut or olive oil. He seems to really enjoy the flavor and loves it on his food. It has helped to improve the condition of his skin as well. I will mention that we even sprinkle some occasionally (about once a month) in our potted plants after watering to help replenish minerals into the soil - they seem to do well on it also.

My Dogs LOVE it!!
I was worried because someone had reviewed that their dog did not like the taste of this, but my dogs LOVE it. They clean their bowls after. Sure hope it does work on keeping teeth clean. (I took before photos, so I’ll know in time). We’re on day 5 of adding this to their food. I mix a scoop of this with a little chicken broth and poor over their kibble.Update on Nov 1. After about a month on this, one of my three dogs decided he didn’t like it anymore. Fortunately, he’s always had beautiful teeth. Meanwhile, the other two are still snarfing it up on their breakfast every day and I have now noticed that both of them have less plaque on their teeth! Yay! I’m gonna give it another month and then take follow up pics, but I can definitely see a big reduction in tartar.Update on 4/9/22. I used up the first package and didn’t reorder (but will today). The reason for my update- my then 9 yr old doodle had gotten that grey coating on his eyes and this product cleared it up! So it’ been about 8 months since we ran out and his eyes still look perfect. Meanwhile, his older brother has developed the same issue. So I’m re-ordering in hopes that it will help him too. He’s the dog in the review that didn’t like the taste. What I’ve figured out (by buying a small amount of a different kelp) is that I can mix this with a tbsp of canned pumpkin and his LiquidVet glucosamine and he loves the taste. I might add a little chicken broth to the kelp to soak it first too. Anyway, this is great stuff and, from my experience, you can get good results and then back off and use it less often and the results remain. Happy, healthy dogs!

Good value
I’ve been buying kelp for my dogs’ teeth and skin/ coat for years. I used to buy the 5 lbs which was a great buy, but I couldn’t find it anymore. This is the next to best buy after the 5 lbs. My dogs love this, they go crazy when I open the bottle. I put this on their food and they’ve never turned it down. I feel this helps their hair to be shiny and soft.

Did it work as magically for my dog?
Decent purchase- 12 ounces for $15. A scoop is included so you know the correct amount to give every time- it might be hard to see if you have poor eyesight though. As always check with your vet and adhere to recommendations- you do not want to harm your dog's thyroid gland and the sensitive body balance it has.Norway is said to have good clean waters- so the kelp grown there should be good.I bought this as a supplement and mainly for dental care. Supposedly the dog ingests the kelp, when it gets digested and absorbed into the bloodstream- you see the effects when it is secreted through their salivary glands which then coats the teeth/plaque/tartar. Unlike others who say the tartar flaked right off- it had no such obvious effects with my pup. To be fair I also brush her teeth relatively regularly (almost every night) so the tartar build up wasn't bad at all.Taste wise- seems decent enough. My pup can be picky- I don't see her intentionally avoiding the kelp granules, but I don't see her licking the bowl clean like others say. I cleaned her teeth with a dental scaler for the first time- and the tartar was relatively easy to scrape off. Her breath improved, so that's definitely nice. I would like to at least attribute that to this product. lol. Would I buy this again? Once I used this bottle up- I will wait a bit to see if I notice something negative (bad breath, plaque build up, etc) then I'll know for sure!
