Incredible craftsmanship and details
For the past ten years or so, Ray-Ban has had a major comeback and been all the rage amongst higher-end sunglasses. Nearly everyone I know has a pair of wayfarers or clubmasters (myself included). But there's an immediate difference you can feel when you hold or wear a pair of Persols versus Ray-Bans or Oakleys or other $100+ plastic sunglasses, and that's craftmanship. Where as the latter feel mass produced and unoriginal and, dare I say cheap, the Persols have a solid weight to them, an array of gorgeous details, and both a seemingly paradoxical blend of history/legacy and originality.ESPECIALLY true for this model. The folding/hinge mechanisms are a demonstration of form and function - they look beautiful and perform solidly. These glasses are beautiful but do not feel flimsy at all.I love even holding the small, palm-sized pouch containing my perfectly folded up pair of Persols. The only thing I'm even slightly miffed by is that the narrowest model is still to wide for me - they will eventually slide down my face, or, worse, if I bend over, fall straight to the ground. However, that's nothing a leash like Croakies couldn't fix.Additionally, I want to call out Amazon's spectacular customer service here. A third party seller accidentally sent me the wrong pair of sunglasses. Amazon went above and beyond to remedy the mistake. They not only told me to keep the other pair (also Persols, not cheap) but they refunded me the full amount so that I could place a new third party order for the correct pair. In this day and age, that was such a wonderful experience.

The Perfect Sunglasses, Hands-Down!
Apart from the Steve McQueen 60s and 70s chic, this is an overall excellent pair of glasses. It has a timeless elegance and it can be worn by anyone no matter young or old as the 714s have stayed faithful to their original 60s design. It just flatters your face no matter the circumstances as it has a versatility no other sunglasses have and the vintage cool look can be either formal or casual. Personally this is my third pair of 714s over a span of 15 years and they've been extremely resistant and durable. I don't fold them very often (so if you're not after this feature, perhaps the 649s would be better value-wise) but the style alone justifies the price. And with the discounted price on Amazon, I don't see any reason why anyone wouldn't go for a pair of Persols over some flimsy generic Ray Bans. I can't see any issue with them; only perhaps that they're nearly impossible to get them lensed (or re-lensed) as not many places accept the responsibility and the lenses are generally extremely expenses. But otherwise, 100% worth the price. In fact, buy a second pair!

High quality classic folding Persol sunglasses ....
Bought the 714 model (the folding version) in the 54 mm size with the polarized lenses (not all come with polarized lenses so be sure before you order). Nice piece of equipment and they fit well on my head, but be aware that the 54 mm (standard) model lenses are pretty big and some users may find the 52 mm size a better fit. You'll just have to try them out, I needed the longer 140 mm arms on the 54 mm size. Construction seems top quality and the folding mechanism is precise and tight, the included case is very nice. All in all these are stylish, classic Persol sunglasses and the price was about 1/2 of the list price. Happy customer.

Elegant and the real deal
I went into a major retailer after purchasing these to ensure everything about these glasses are authentic, and they very well seem to be. For less than the cost of many retailers, this is a great purchase.I was kind of shocked though, how tiny the carrying case is. This is a gift for my husbands upcoming birthday and he loves the classic look of the Persols. Polarized lenses are a bonus for his sensitive eyes. I do recommended probably purchasing a case where you don't have to constantly fold and unfold as they are delicate and I can see busy dads or if you are in a rush, getting irritated with having to delicately unfold and fold these everytime. In that case, I can see how they will break easily. Comes with certificate of authenticity, a nice carrying case (very small one), and a lens cloth. Exquisitely hand made in Italy, these are the real deal. They are getting hard to find in stores, so I was happy to be able to purchase these here for a lot less than the average retail cost.

Scratches on “new” Persol frames
I just received my Persol Aviator sunglasses, model 714. Cool glasses; however, I expected a brand-new item from a luxury brand with stringent quality control standards from Italy. They should have arrived in a presentable and unworn state. Unfortunately, these glasses appear to be refurbished. They arrived dirty, with fingerprints and scratches covering the frame. I have purchased these glasses before in brand-new condition without these flaws. It's disappointing to find $400 glasses with such frame scratches, which I consider unacceptable.

Great quality, disappointed in condition of frame
Decided to try these because of the price and because I love the special edition Capri Persol glasses I’ve owned for years. The flex in the arms make these very comfortable to wear. Comes wrapped in original plastic inside Persol case and box. I didn’t realize the sunglass case was going to be so small—a size where your glasses always need to be folded to fit. I will be buying a sunglass sleeve for these because the hardware on these glasses make me nervous. Folding the arms in and out of the mechanism takes a bit of force and I’m not ready to put so much wear and tear on these glasses right away. I’m very disappointed that these glasses came with so many imperfections. I just received them today and the frame is dinged in so many places. Some are scratches and some are scrapes. Luckily the lenses are flawless. Tempered glass and not polarized lenses if you’re wondering. The damage to to frame makes me nervous about the authenticity of these glasses, but the quality and weight of the acetate, hardware, and lenses compared to my much more expensive Persol glasses make me believe these are genuine...just damaged. Holding off on wearing until I decide whether it’s worth returning.
