Ideal for a beginner.
BeaverCraft is a big name in carving tools but I didn't know that they supplied wood as well. After seeing a recommendation online I definitely wanted to give them a try. These blocks are evenly coloured with a good straight grain. More importantly, especially for the beginner, the wood is pretty soft and carves easily with a sharp knife or chisel. It cuts cleanly leaving a polished finish even on the end grain and I had very few problems with breakaway and no crumbling at all. Definitely recommended.

I only got one piece instead of 5, had to return which was a shame as party of birthday gift!

Do not buy
Good for use for beginners, but a rip of for what it is. Ridiculous price for what you get. Go to a builder's merchant for 10x the quantity and a fraction of the price.Wanna whittle? Get balsa or bass wood from any wood supplier.
