Great for peace of mind
Love this device, very simple to use and will save you the cost of someone running a diagnostic test. My BMW dealership want to charge me £132 just to find the code. Now I know the code, I can resolve this issue myself.

Packed with useless functions
This device works with an app on your iPhone (as in my case)- connection to the device is easy and is carried effortlessly.- it takes a while for all test results completed and some like I/M readiness remain incomplete indefinitely- the app reports all the errors even those long past, yet there is no way of clearing the errors so you don't know what is current and what is not- you can only see the reports when connected so you cannot check and analyse when you move away from the car / offline. Similarly, there is no way of exporting the reports- there are a few features that are utterly useless and annoying, all they do is display the rev counter, speedometer or both. Does ANSEL know any car that does not have a speedometer or even a rev counter? Perhaps it's the case in China!- "performance test" doesn't work when/because you're driving and doesn't work when you're stationary because they relate to performance on the move but even if it did, all it does is display the rev counter and speedometer.- it may be news to ANCEL but iPhone had a flashlight from the year 2007 when it was launched so it doesn't need the ANCEL app to provide one- I made a mistake in providing them with feedback and now they responded by saying: "Please do not switch the application to the background when using your iPhone". I have received the same email 3 times and I'm wondering when they stop, but that's Chinese for you, they know best and are aggressiveI think I have overdone it by giving them 3 stars!

Bluetooth LE - automatically connects in or via the app…they coulda said !!!
It does NOT require you to go into the iOS ‘settings’ screen, and make the bluetooth pairing there work!!! They could just have even MENTIONED BLE somewhere, would have been nice, but no, they pepper the instruction leaflet with statements like ‘make sure the bluetooth is connected first’. But that’s not all.It seems unless you download the Ancel app, and do some kind of registration, the device doesn’t work. In among the hassle I had, of figuring out eventually that you do NOT connect this unit to the iOS of your Apple iphone, I cannot be certain, but I could not get it working before that point.Really really not impressed. If we had started with the heads-up in the instructions of say ‘There is no need to try to connect in the traditional way, this bluetooth device using ‘classic’ bluetooth in the bluetooth connection screen of your iphone. All Bluetooth aspects are in fact Bluetooth Low-Energy or BLE, and as such, are entirely dealt with INSIDE of the app itself. So ignore the iOS bluetooth manual connection as that does not apply…instead, simply download our app or another suitable scanning app, and hit ‘connect’ in the app itself, which will then handle all bluetooth matters for you.’There. Not hard is it? But no, they made me spend a very frustrating 20 minutes sat burning petrol in the car, trying to connect using the Bluetooth screen of iOS, before I finally resigned to the presumption, that ‘somehow’ the app connected FOR the user, and the two situations were mutually exclusive. Why, I don’t know. Because of this, I ordered an entirely different make of unit. They DO mention BLE and finally I found some clarification in VeePeak’s instruction card about this - and their card, is about 40mm square, not a huge fold-out page that somehow STILL fails to mention the vital BLE info anywhere. I don’t understand why people do this to their customers. Maybe the unit is good or mybe it is not, but they;ve got me to buy a cheaper alternative now, so that’s a fail. But I have not been unfair - I’ve arrived at my view of the product, also after using their ‘profile’ for a Prius - and there’s nothing about the traction battery at all. Well, sorry, but that’s a huge thing for a hybrid. I want to know the voltages of the traction battery individual pairs of cells, like other apps do. I just can’t find something in this worth the price, and the dreadful rigmarole of setting the Bluetooth up/oh hang on I don’t have to, is just the cherry on top. Meh.irmMay 2023
