Great Pill Splitter
I think that I looked on Amazon for 2 days trying to decide which pill splitter to get. I never used one before but my cat, Savannah, takes a half pill 2x’s a day and the medication doesn’t split well so I was getting thyroid medication in little pieces. When I received this pill splitter I thought that it would be just like all my other fails that I recently had gotten from here. Not so! It effortlessly split all the pills I had left for her. No dust and no crumbled pieces left to try to get into her mouth. A cat has sharp teeth and I would rather try to get it down one time instead of having to open her mouth again. I would not hesitate to get another one and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Well thought out and good quality. Less crumbs.
Review items: EQUADOSE Pill Splitter with Precision Aluminum BladesEQUADOSE Pill Cutter V2I purchase these more than two months ago.I purchased both of these sister products from Equadose because I wanted to compare them. My pill are expensive (and important), so I wanted the best pill splitter I could find. I think reviewing these two together is wothwhile. Both styles work a bit better than the supermarket/pharmacy, typical pill splitter I used previously. In particular they both make less crumbs.I am splitting a smallish, flat ovoid pill that just fits in the Equadose Pill Cutter V2 stablilzing gripper at its tightest setting. I am pretty sure that different types of pills have varying densities and hardness, so crumb production can vary accordingly. Both of the Equadose pill splitter models work very well.My experience is that the Equadose Pill Splitter (the hinging model) hardly makes any crumbs. The V2 model did better with crumbs than my old pill cutter, but not as good as the hinging model.Regarding splitting my smallish, ovoid pills exactly in half, it is difficult to get an exact split with any pill splitter. Sometimes the alignment in the splitter is not as perfect as thought, and sometimes the pills simply shear imperfectly. It appears that all pill splitters do not "cut" the pills, but rather sort of crack them.Having said that, I prefer both Equadose splitter models to my previous splitter for accurate splitting. Both require fiddling (and good lighting) to optimize the alignment (as did my previous splitter). I think it is easier to get optimal split proportions with the Equadose Pill Splitter than with the V2 because with the former you can see exactly where the pincers are touching the pill. Still, it is a bit of a learning process. As mentioned by others, when splitting pills that have a fat side and a thinner side, in the Equadose Pill Splitter it is best to stand the pill on its thin side in the bite of the pincers so that the pincers are already as close together as possible.I am very satisfied with both Equadose models and am keeping them both. They are both well thought out products of good quality.

Great Pill Spliter
Works very well—much better than the rectangular single bladed ones. Did not want to pay the price, but it is worth it, with a blade above and below. Cuts precisely with little “dust”. Thanks to the reviewer who suggested using both thumb palms on either side of the top as you press down. It does make a difference. I have 2 daily pills that I must halve. One is very tiny and could not be cut with the cheaper, single blade product. This works!

The only one with a straight down cutting motion
I am going to repeat another verified purchaser's comments: "This device does a better job of cutting pills than any other device I've tried. That said, it is a cheaply constructed over-priced plastic piece of junk. But it is a remarkably effective piece of junk." All this is true. Over-priced. Cheaply made. But IT WORKS because of the top and bottom blades and the straight down cutting motion so the pill does not slip out of place as with traditional pill cutters.

The BEST of numerous pill cutters used over time. Definitely recommend.
Over the years I've used numerous pill cutters and this is the absolute BEST! With the two bladed, one above and another below, and the effective positioning apparatus, this perfectly splits even odd shaped pills without the crumble found with all of the others that I have used. This is a FIVE STAR product, in my opinion.

Best Pill Cutter EVER
I've had some of the free ones before and this is the first one I've purchased. I like the idea that it could center an oblong tablet and it really works well. Since it has a blade underneath it does an even job of cutting large pills. Not a lot of dust or chips, it cuts pretty cleanly. I would highly recommend, I'm thinking about getting a second.

Very effective for splitting tiny pills!
With my prior pill splitter, I always experienced waste of either shards, crumbles, or a large portion of the pill. With the Equadose, pills are cleanly split in half without any waste. I have only used it on very tiny pills (approximately 1/2 centimeter wide) so far, but I can only imagine that it works well on all pill sizes.I line the pill up in the centering device, then I use a very small, flat head screwdriver to lightly turn the pill to align the score pattern with the blades before splitting it. Perfect every time!

Not good for tiny round pills
Does Not evenly cut small 2.5 mg Prozac pills for my cats. I need their dosage to be precise, so cannot use this pill splitter for my cats' pills.
