I have been buying the Mahogany Hodedah book shelves for years. I've have to send some back because of bad packaging. But the product itself has been perfect for my needs. It's incredibly hard to find them without the doors now but I took a chance to buy the ones with doors and just leave the doors off. They are now packaged better and the little holes for the doors don't bother me and are hardly noticeable. I would love it if they brought back the originals with better packaging. I will settle for these for now. Easy to assemble. And match my originals.

This is the classic 'you get what you pay for' moment. Is it cheap? Yes! Is it pristine when it arrives? No. This is for those that need storage but do not want to pay a lot. Will this arrive damaged? Yes. You WILL have some type of damage. If not at the corners because they ship it with ridiculous cheap pieces of thin wood braces that snap in two. Or you end up with the pieces themselves rubbing against each other in shipment because the company didn't secure each piece in place. You will get ugly gold screws that show up on the sides and stick out. There IS a 100 percent chance you will have to touch up the edges with a marker. And if you really want to go the extra mile and paint the screws you can. It does wobble like a drunk after happy hour but the shelves hold a lot. And you will not find anything this cheap that is quick to put together. The hard part is the doors. Those darn plastic 'hinges' are a pain. Not going to lie but I suggest screwing one side one then sliding the other in place. You will for sure screw up the finish on this but that's what a black marker is for. Have LOW expectations when buying this and you cannot go wrong....in fact the lower the better!!

I purchased the black five-door cabinet as a kitchen pantry. Very sturdy. screw heads do show on the sides of the cabinet after assembly which is not shown in the advertised photos. Also the screw heads are not flat and not colored to match the cabinet. However on the black cabinet it really doesn't look too bad. Assembly was really easy but I do have a suggestion for inserting the doors. I ended up attaching the handle, installing the hinges minus the screws, tiltedly hinges upward, inserted the doors into the hinge slots and then screwing in the hinges. This is much easier than what the instructions suggested. When tightening the door hinge screws I would tighten or loosen them to make sure the door closed easily. I purchased this cabinet on sale so I believe for the price it turned out to be a nice universal cabinet. It was packaged well with styrofoam and none of the wood pieces had any damage or scratches. All hardware was packaged separately and nothing missing. I plan on getting another one or two in the near future.

I wasn’t expecting much for the price point and this piece managed to not meet those expectations. The good; the price. It comes with an earthquake anchor. That’s all. The bad: as noted in other reviews the screws are exposed and they don’t even bother to give you stickers or those plastic screw covers. The screws don’t match the finish of the shelf. There’s really no way to level it, and it’s definifely not level. Just assume it will come with some sort of damage. I had a smashed corner and two chunks of particle board carved out of one of the side panels. There was no damage to the packaging. I bought nicer handles to put on it, but that’s really just lipstick on a pig - at the end of the day it’s still a pig. Ultimately, I think the company relies on the fact that once it is opened people won’t bother to send it back.Instructions: the instructions for putting on the hinges are not correct. 1) bend the hinges slightly so they are wide enough to handle the wood doors. 2) using one of the screws start the hinge holes on the door. 3) attach the metal plate for the magnet closure 3) put the hinges on the shelf unit. 4) slide the door panel into the hinges. Close the door slightly so you can make sure it lines up. 5) Screw in the screws. 6) push in the magnet unto the shelf unit and double check everything lined up. 7) attach the handles. 8) marvel at the wonders of your unstable and cheaply made POS shelf unit.Ultimately, for me this is just extra storage in a guest room that won’t be used much. If you’re planning on frequent use, or storage for heavy items, spend a little more money and get something better.
