Definitely worth it
I absolutely love this Laser Distance Meter! It's incredibly accurate and easy to use, making measuring distances a breeze. The device is compact and lightweight, yet it feels sturdy and well-built. The laser is bright and clear, and the display is easy to read, although not great in direct sunlight. I initially needed it to measure the height of tree limbs in planning to hang a ham radio antenna and it worked perfectly. I’ve used it for everything from simple home projects to more precise measurements, and it has performed flawlessly every time. If you’re looking for a reliable and efficient laser distance meter, this one is definitely worth it. Highly recommended!

Accurate + easy to use. Hidden settings/config
Good product, way cheaper than the big brands (just slower). I checked the accuracy against a ruler: both measuring from top and bottom of the meter are spot on (bottom of meter measurement just adds 12.2cm to the measurement). I chose this one over the other laser measures at the price point because it can display fractional inches, and I couldn't confirm the other ones were able to from the listing pictures.Tips/gotchas:* The add/subtract button for straight line measurement works by taking the first measurement, pressing +/-, then taking another measurement. It will stay in +/- mode for subsequent measurements.* Add/subtract for the special modes (area, volume, hypotenuse-side, etc), is different if you want to add/subtract more than two measurements: you need to do the first set of measurements, then press +/-, then take another set of measurements. When the result of the second set of measurements shows, you need to press Read to return the result. Then, if you want to continue adding/subtracting, you need to press +/- AGAIN to your chosen mode and take your next set of measurements. Pressing Read from the result screen without pressing +/- again will take you back to straight line measurement mode (this is kind of unexpected, because without +/- mode subsequent measurements stay in the special mode you've chosen).* Only the unit setting is retained across poweroffs.Settings menu:From off, hold On for 3 seconds until you see "boot".To change the value of a setting, short press On.To go to the next setting, long press On (1 second). Here are the settings in order and what they do, default setting in [brackets]:1. Power on reading: [yes], indicated by laser pointer icon in top left, no, indicated by no laser pointer iconIf yes, the measure is ready to take a reading when you first turn it on (you only need to press Read once, instead of once to activate the laser pointer and then again to get the reading).2. Calibration: [CAL. 0]. I don't know what effect this has, and I don't recommend changing it.3. Power on mute: [on], will beep by default, off, will be muted by default.4. Power on backlight: [on], will turn on the backlight, off, won't turn on the backlight.

really helpful when you work by yourself
I needed to measure from the center of a wall in order to hang pictures in an area that wasn't easy to measure without another pair of hands, which I didn't have. Enter the atolla laser distance meter and problem solved. The PRO's: distance can be measured from the top or bottom of the meter, there is a continuous measurement mode (I had a general idea where center was but could use this mode to move the meter back and forth to get the exact distance), instructions were easy to follow, screen is easy to read, easy conversion between units of length. I've only used the laser inside and it was very easy to see. I didn't care enough to check the accuracy of the meter, but by my estimation the accuracy stated in the description is correct. I haven't used the more advanced features (measuring area or hypotenuse). The only CON is the level: the bubble moves v e r y s l o w l y, making it easy to over-correct and made me question accuracy. This isn't a big deal for my purposes, but may be an issue for others with more stringent needs. Overall, I am really pleased with this meter and I definitely got my money's worth.

Two Major flaws
I have had this laser distance finder for over a year. It is accurate yet has 2 Major flaws.1. It works well indoors and outdoors at night. The Laser is just too weak to be seen well in daylight.2. When displaying feet and inches in fractions the display only shows single digits for inches. So 10 inches displays as 0 and 11 inches displays as 1. Using decimals shows a proper reading. I like to use the fractions setting because I am often using both this device and a tape measure. I may use this device to measure the distance between two walls and then use a tape measure to measure the length of the board that will be cut to fit between the walls. The first photo shows the display reading 7' 1 1/2" yet the tape measure clearly shows the ceiling height to be 7' 11 1/2". In feet the display reads 7.96 ft. In inches it reads 95.5 in. So as I wrote in the beginning of this review. It is accurate unless you are displaying fractions and your measurement includes feet and either 10 or 11 inches. Whenever I get a 0 or 1 and a fraction I have to cycle through the display settings to see if the 0 or 1 was actally 0 or 1 or actually 10 or 11.
