Q: how high will this boost 87 octane

According to the manufacturer, one tablet can add up to 10 points to 5 gallons of gasoline and two tablets, up to 17 points. The back side of blister indicates (in very small letters) that 10 points = 1 octane number. So if you have 5 gallons of 87 gasoline and you add 1 tablet, you will increase your 5 gallons to 88 octane. On the other hand, if you add 2 tablets to your 5 gallons of 87 gasoline, it should increase to 88.7 octane. Now let's say your tank is 12 gallons, which is almost standard on 4 cylinder cars and you do the math, with one tablet in your full 87 octane tank you should get an 87.42 octane tank and if you add two tablets the octane number you should get is 87.71. I'm not sure, but it seems that adding more tablets doesn't have an accumulative effect. At least manufacturer doesn't explicitly mention to add more tablets to increase octane number further. I guess you can add two tablets to increase 10 gallons from 87 to 88 but I think there should be a limit on how many tablets you can add or if it's possible to get 95 octane gas from 87 gas with X number of tablets (maybe not). Where I live, we are facing a very poor quality gasoline, car knocks at minimum throttle press. These tablets helped to manage the knocking issue but does not eliminate it, so you should keep caution when driving to avoid ruining your engine. Good luck!!

Q: Does dyno-tab octane work with diesel engines?
