This was very cheaply made. There should be a visible button to collapse or open the umbrella. The instructions say to listen for the "click" but there is no clicking because there isn't a latch as the instructions describe.The handle was simply not made for this, there is no way I (or anyone) could fit the handle on this umbrella.

For my baby he loves it when go on a walk on those rainy days. I just wish it had a longer Chain.

My Maltese and I LOVED this doggy umbrella - until it broke. For all of her 5 years, she has been terrible about going outside to do her business in the rain. I would snap the chain of this easy-open umbrella to her collar and out she'd go. She never paid any attention to it and its presence didn't bother her at all. Some reviewers have said the chain leash is too short but I think it is the perfect length. Any longer and the dog would be out from under the umbrella getting wet. You do have to hold the handle vertically over the dog which is somewhat awkward, or once again the dog would get wet. But after using it a few times I got used to it and it wasn't an issue. A closed loop handle, or a thicker straight (no hook or loop) would be easier to hold onto since you do have to hold it in this somewhat awkward vertical position to keep the umbrella over the dog, but alas, it's a hook shaped handle.Unfortunately, the metal handle arrives in two pieces for assembly and this is the major flaw of the umbrella. As soon as I saw it, I knew this would be the weak point where the umbrella would break, and sure enough, where the two pieces of the metal handle screw together snapped. Since they screw into each other with a little screw, and the screw is sheared off inside, there is no way to repair it. I thought about trying to duct tape the two halves together but the bottom part of the handle slides down into the clear plastic umbrella when you close the umbrella, so you can't duct tape the two handle halves together and still be able to close the umbrella.So the bottom line is I loved the umbrella and it worked great for me and my doggy up until the moment it broke, and we have not used it very many times. I just searched Amazon for another that appears to have a one-piece handle and have ordered it. If it comes and it's a two piece, screw together, handle again, I will be disappointed because I know that it too will soon break.

I thought this doggy umbrella was awesome and it worked really well but my little 5 pound mini Bichon was not all that fond of it, it made her a little nervous having something above her I guess.But if you think your pet could handle one of these I would definitely try it if it does not work out you can easily send it back.

SHE GOT SPOOKED BY IT OVER HER SO COULDNT USE IT

The umbrella is great. My dog hates going out in the rain. She has a raincoat but doesn't like the hood. This umbrella covers her perfectly.
