Best Camera Monitor on the Market!!!
This monitor is fantastic! I have the BM5IIIWR and BM7IIDS. I use those 2 with my RED Komodo and Blackmagic Design Ursa Mini 12K Cine. I needed a new monitor for my Blackmagic Design Pyxis 6K, so I bought the BM5IVWR. All of my cameras have SDI outputs, so I have to choose the BM series monitors. I was going to use my BM5IIIWR for my Pyxis 6K, but I liked the new UI on my BM7IIDS. That's why I bought the BM5IVWR. The new UI is way better than the old one. This monitor is lighter than the older monitors. It has the same 10-bit, 1920 x 1080p, 2000 nits, and 5.5-inch screen. The only major difference is the new UI, custom pages, and 4K60 HDMI. The best feature that I use the most is the LOG False Color. LOG False Color is similar to EL Zone. This camera can control almost any camera on the market. It can control my Komodo and Pyxis wirelessly. I bought the Pyxis monitor and returned it. I didn't like it. It felt cheap. If you need a good monitor for an affordable price, this monitor is the one to buy. If you want a 7-inch monitor, the BM7IIDS is the one to buy. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Best value for money professional camera monitor with camera control.
This monitor is ounce for ounce punching way above its weight for monitors in its price class. I am using the BM5 IV on my Canon R6 Mk2 for video work. The daylight viewable screen is a massive help when framing a subject and the camera controls saves a lot of time when setting up the camera. The monitor is lightweight, robust and made of high quality and durable materials. The new CINENORM user interface is simple and intuitive with all the tools and signal interfaces which are superior to what that can be expected from a monitor in its price class. Portkeys product support is great and I have done a firmware update with no hassles at all. This monitor will serve noobs like myself and professionals all alike as it will get you going quickly with its simple user interface but yet has a massive array of professional capabilities to streamline workflows and the quality of video productions.

Great overall monitor with a few problems
This is a solid monitor with a very bright and sharp screen. Really love the Cinenorm os as it's the main reason I took a chance with this monitor over a Smallhd. I hope certain features will be improved in future updates such as pinch to zoom because it's quite glitchy right now. The screen capture/overlay system feels slow and not as intuitive compared to competition too. My biggest problem with this monitor is when underexposing and shooting a grey/more neutral surface, you can see pretty severe color banding on the screen. This is quite distracting and hard to judge the image properly. The color banding persists even in black and white mode. I have reached out to Portkeys about this issue, and while they have really great customer service, this seems like a hardware problem that cannot be fixed, so hopefully the 5th version will have better quality panels.

My monitor fried when connecting the portkeys cable
After just a couple of years of use, this monitor stopped working. It seems that the issue is a common one related to the cable, based on what I’ve read in other reviews. It’s especially frustrating to have it fail just days before an important shoot.

works great with BMPCC4K
I use this monitor with my BMPCC4K and it works great. I only have to connect it once and it automatically reconnects each time I turn the camera and monitor on; even if it's been weeks since they both have been off. All the controls works as promised. I can change my camera settings with the monitor. This makes it easy to use, especially when my camera is on a gimbal. I have ran the monitor for 8 hours straight with no problem. I had the fan turn to level 8 the whole time and the monitor never gets hot. The fan is pretty loud, but I have not had any complaints from sound department yet. It's not any louder than ambient noises and it's so consistent that it should be super easy to take out during post. For the size and what the monitor can do, it is super lightweight as well. The brightness is also a plus. I can use this outside without a hood.

Love This Monitor!
I spent a good while trying to find a Monitor that had everything I was looking for. I had never heard of PortKeys but I did see several reviews online that really got me interested to dig deeper. My BM5II connect to my BMPCC 4K. Pairs instantly with Bluetooth and gives me full control of my camera not to mention the brightness of the screen at 2200 nits is crystal clear even when filming outside in bright sun. What I think is cool about this company is while small they do have an engaged support and development team, I found a Port Keys Facebook Group with a couple hundred members. What I have noticed and really like about the company is the users are providing real time feedback on the hardware and firmware updates. In most cases I see a PortKeys representative from the group respond and say "we are letting the software engineers know about this now" and in a couple of weeks a new firmware update releases with new features and updates and that issue mentioned on facebook is usually one of the fixes. It's cool to see real-time response and solution from their team.

Impressive monitor
The Portkeys BM7 II DS Camera Field Monitor has proven to be a robust companion on set. Its durable build ensures reliability, while the impressive brightness makes it a standout performer even in daylight conditions. The monitor's responsive camera controls, especially when paired with Red cameras, provide a seamless user experience. Although the fans can be a bit audible, it's a minor concern, easily overshadowed by its other strengths. For those with a separate audio workflow on set, the Portkeys BM7 II DS is highly recommended for its durability, visibility, and responsive controls, making it a valuable asset for filmmakers.
