It will probably need calibrated!
The Ninja V is a fantastic bit of kit, I looked up the reviews online before I purchased it. Be aware that when you buy this not only will you have to buy SSD card and battery the device will probably need calibrated, please before you buy look into this as I'm just about to purchase the X-Rite i1 and an extortionately priced cable from Atomos.

Useful but not essential for video production on modern DSLRs
There are so many YouTube videos explaining the features of the Ninja V that an additional review, just doesn’t seem necessary.I would say, that if you have a newer camera (post 2019) with excellent auto focus and object tracking, which can record video at 400Mb/second or more, then you may not need this device unless you are a professional video camera operator, or working with other professionals in videography.

Not so great for game capture
I solely bought the Ninja V for video gameplay capture.ProsThe built quality is excellentThe device allows you to record a video with LUTs.The video quality is 7/10.Supports various SSD drivesUpdated frequentlyRecords in 4K/60 outputConsExpensive device and you’ll spend over £900 (SSD, H265 and other services) if you want the full experience whereas other capture cards cost less than £200.Does not support HDR on Xbox series XVarious Issues with sound (cutscene sound is usually out of sync )Images look dry on the PS5Device partially advertised as a capture card but the manufacturer(Ninja) has never tested this item on any next gen console.Additional services and video format cost an arm and a leg. You’re only able to record 1 hour footage with a 1TB SSD and 2 hours for 2TB SSDI paid £99 for H265 video format, this was advertised to offer more 99 hours of video recording but I get less than 2 hours and 15 minutes. Not a happy customer. The customer service team is unable to provide any support regarding video game capture. As previously stated , the device has never been tested on Next gen console .Although not a necessity , gaining access to Bluetooth will cost you over £135. You’ll need to purchase a separate component. The device gets worse with each newer update ( understandable as it’s not tested for streaming or video game capture )Overall the ninja V is such an expensive device and mostly suitable for photography.

Atomos support is sadly lacking!
I am a professional photographer just getting into video and because I need NLOG on my Nikon Z7, I needed to buy the Ninja V monitor/recorder. Following the second firmware upgrade since I bought it, the unit has crashed and refuses to get past the dreaded Error screen. I've used it once since September 2021. I've contacted the Atomos Support Desk who have been no help at all. No I have to fork out to return the unit in the hope of a replacement! Product good, support a big fat zero!

Atomos repair service - truly awful
I registered my Atomos Ninja v on the Atomos website to get a 2 year warranty and I am glad that I did. After 15 months the audio over HDMI and the external 3.5mm jack stopped working.Sent it back to their repair agent , CVP in UK , and it took a month to get it back - CVP sent to Germany to get it fixed by Atomos. The audio was repaired but they put a new circuit board in it and didn't calibrate the screen , so the colours were all way off , rendering it useless ( sorry about the pun ) . It was suggested that I bought the Atomos/Spyder calibration unit and calibrated it myself - I don't think that is acceptable. I sent it back to CVP to be calibrated. Another month has gone by and I have not heard anything since.Basically, the message is this - if your Atomos unit develops a fault, you may as well throw it away, because their repair service is terrible. When it works the Ninja V is ok , but when it doesn't ........ good luck with getting it repaired. But whatever you do - if you buy one , register it on their website and get the warranty in case you have a problem.
