I like black
I needed a new watch but I’m pretty selective. I looked at a lot of different colors, options and styles before I decided I really like the blackout style. That’s only the beginning, now that I had the color and style, I had to choose a brand, my necessary options and the right ‘look’ for my tastes. I checked out watches from $25-$2k.This watch fits all of my criteria but one.I needed more than ‘splash resistance’ some watches have. They might look good but I don’t want humidity or a light sprinkling rain ruining a watch. This watch is good enough to swim and snorkel with.I wanted stainless steel or titanium and this watch is stainless steel, black.I didn’t want a ‘light’ or different colored hands, I wanted black. This one is, ALL BLACK. The hands do have some luminescence to them, just enough to make out the time when you wake up at night groggy. Perfect.I looked at a lot of brands and chose Citizen and the Eco-drive for their reviews and customer satisfaction. The only thing I would think should be upgraded is the crystal to sapphire. Lacking that, the watch is one step from perfect.I set the time upon arrival and removed some links from the band and I’m extremely satisfied. I’d recommend this watch. It looks good, functions properly and fits my character.

Sleek and Sharp
This was a gift to my husband and he’s extremely happy! He likes the dark design and how matte and shiny details come together on this watch. It holds its time and as long as it has any light source it will charge. The watch was easy to size, just a couple of pins to remove. Our only hang up is, if it’s dark it’s very hard to see the hands against the dark background. Overall it’s beautiful and perfect for special occasions and date night.

Great watch, overall I am very happy with it (two small things I would change).
Ok, so I am about 90% happy with this watch. First the reason for the 4-star rating.I think it is absurd that a watch costing over $300 comes with a mineral face crystal (dial window). I have three other watches that are all much cheaper ($80-$90 range) that all three have sapphire crystals. Sapphire is MUCH harder and almost impervious to scratches (my others are still 100% scratch free and taken a decent beating). I have a friend if 2 Citizen Eco Drive watches and both of his watches are very scratched up. So I am a bit nervous that this watch is going to start to look like crap if it gets scratched up. Hopefully not since I will mainly wear it into the office and what not.The second thing (more of a personal opinion) is that it is a bit smaller than I thought it was and also the band becomes more narrow as it goes down (away from the watch itself). I don't like this and that style doesn't seem quite appropriate for this type of watch (black, more "gruff" style) in my opinion. I would have liked to see it at least stay "square" and the same width all the way around.Regarding being able to read it, yeah it's a bit tougher in low light, but just fine and easy to read in normal light. This should not shock or upset you as it is all black on black on black on black ...Overall, great watch that I really like and receive compliments on. I would recommend the purchase, just be careful with the watch face.

Still Running Strong A Decade Later
I bought this watch on Amazon in 2014. I wore it nearly every day for several years before putting it in a safe. It was forgotten there for a few more years. I took it out and was doubtful it would still work after sitting for so long. I left it in the sun and sure enough it works perfectly and holds a charge. Great quality for the price. And while I paid $200 back then for it I would gladly pay $500 if I ever had to replace it.

I bought this for myself. I was fearful that the face is too dark but the hands and the numbers glow nicely after exposure to daylight and artificial light. It is a really awesome looking watch and I love it. Comes with a 5 year warranty off the bat and inside the box you can register the watch and get an additional year of warranty. No complaints and big fan of Citizen watches.

A Watch for the man who doesn't wear watches
I am not a watch person. With the advent of personal phones that display the time, I gave up on my biennial purchase of a new Timex. Having the time available on my phone, which is always with me, made owning and wearing watches obsolete... Or so I thought. Being a self-avowed techno geek, I am always intrigued when a functional item catches my eye. While perusing a watch catalog with a friend, explaining why I would no longer buy a watch, much less one that cost over a hundred dollars, I came across this Citizen. Stylish, functional, eco-friendly. I was hooked. The only thing I think I should mention is that this elegant timepiece is a bit difficult to read in the dark, say a theater. That said, I love it!

Great looking watch except
It is impossible to tell time without bright light . The watch does not glow , so at night it’s a bracelet. If it had indigos or if the glowing handles glowed it would be awesome . However it is a watch that can’t tell you time . You do the math .
