I know people like this and bentonite. I use this then cold crash my meads and wines and ciders and it clears almost anything in 5 days or so.

Adequate fining; better when used in tandem with bentonite
I have several bee hives in my backyard and thus often make mead with the excess honey. As many may know, using fruits and other items in mead can make it hazy and undesirable at first glance. Because I wish to chare my meads with friends and do not want them to wince when seeing a dark, hazy brew, I tried various fining methods to remove haze and improve clarity. Sparkalloid is a charged particle that will bind a pull down loose particulate in liquids. In my experience, sparkalloid is effective, but only when used in tandem with bentonite--another fining/clearing agent. I like to use bentonite in my primary fermentations and then rack onto sparkalloid. I usually get very, very clear meads by doing this method. I have found, however, that if something does not clear up within the first week on sparkalloid, it will likely never clear up. When using this product, keep a careful eye out and make sure you use a secondary method of fining. Also be careful because sparkalloid and other fining agents can remove flavors, especially in fruit meads. See photos for before and 1 day after addition of sparkalloid.
