We’ve planted a large area of about an acre. We were nervous after seeing some reviews about them either not sprouting or having weeds in the mix. We planted them and watered about 3 times a day to keep the ground moist at all times. We had germination in less than 48 hours! We had a pretty green blanket within 4 days, and gorgeous clover in just a couple weeks. Reviewers saying it didn’t sprout likely didn’t keep the area moist because these came up so fast and the germination rate is very high! We have not seen any weeds mixed in over a month later so those that have experienced them likely had weeds in thier existing ground. I highly recommend this company and these clover seeds. Just prepare your soil with a little raking, spread the seed, and water OFTEN. Don’t let the ground dry out. We found a timer to connect to our hose and set it to water every 6 hours for 15 minutes. If it’s a warmer environment you may need to water more often. We live on the far most northern part of the California coast if that is helpful. If you need some beautiful quick ground cover just get it! We will be buying another large bag to finish off our property this fall :)

Incredibly happy with this purchase. I originally picked up one 5 lb bag and ended up getting a second for thicker coverage. When we first moved into our house, about half the yard was dirt. Over the years I’ve spent a decent amount of time and money trying to seed it with grass and managed to fill a decent portion, but nothing ever succeeded in the area directly out our back doors and porch. Consequently, dirt is always getting tracked into the house and it became a muddy mess when it rained. I had done some research decided to try out clover for this area (we also keep bees, so clover had an added bonus for that). I was surprised when the seeds I put down germinated within 3 days and showed little green leaves by the end of the first week. I included a before/after picture that includes pictures that are 2-weeks apart.

I was a bit worried at first because I am not a grdener and know very little about plants in general, but almost every seed sprouted. I planted them in very difficult spots in my yard and even with the wind and rain pushing them around, they still sprouted. Just keep in mind that clover needs a lot of water while they're little. I planted mine in early April and it took about a weekish before they sprouted, which is a bit longer than the bag said.What got planted in the shade is doing much better than the ones that got planted in the sun. It probably has more to do with how my property is laid out because I'm trying to grow in areas that have been very difficult for even the weeds to grow.The bigger question is how much will you need? I'd say for an average sized (American Suburb) yard that has zero grass and you're starting from nothing, maybe one bag. The seeds are tiny and there are so many. I didn't even use my entire bag. So if your yard is bigger than that or if you're doing front and back yards, probably more than 1 bag.I covered mine in straw and it really helped keep the moisture on them. I would definitely buy this again.

This stuff grows like crazy. Our yard is destroyed from a dog running around, basically 50% dirt, all compacted. I put down 10lb of this seed mixed with some tall fescue and it grew like crazy. A month after putting it down and our backyard is green for the first time in years.I hardly did any prep, just some light raking to loosen the very top of the soil. I made sure to water it well at least once a day on the days we didn’t get any rain.Will definitely be buying this again in the fall and overseeding our backyard like crazy with it.

I wanted to write an update - I planted this last year, and it did fine. This year, as everything has started growing, it has amazed. It is thick and lush. I live in Kansas, and it's been happy with all of our extreme weather. If you plan to mow it, know it is thick and holds moisture - if you want a ground cover that doesn't need to be mowed, it is perfect. If you like bees, they will be there - they don't bother us, but if I were allergic, I would want to know this. Definitely getting more this year.

This may work great in some climates but it doesn't seem to survive northern Minnesota winters. It grew wonderfully when we planted it and looked amazing by the end of the summer but it just wouldn't come back the next spring. The yard is fenced in and it was planted in low traffic areas of the yard. All I can figure is that the close to Canada tundra climate kills it off during the winter. It may be fantastic in a milder climate but not so much in the extreme cold of a Minnesota winter.
