The EBow does what it is supposed to do
Got mine today and played with it a couple of hours. First impression: yes, it does what this EBow is supposed to do: getting the strings of a solid body guitar (PRS) to vibrate. It is solely up to the guitarist's ability to produce sounds and even more important: melodies. I was able to play cello-like and flute-like sounds but melodies get different because my right hand always tried to press and slide the EBow in directions it does not like, to put it that way. Watch the outstanding 24 minutes tutorial video on YouTube which shows kind of cartoon animated guitar player playing all kind of techniques on this tool. Then you get a very clear picture on what the EBow can produce. To me personally, the EBow adds nicely to my tools getting more sound stuff out of my PRS. It does not substitute any of my wonderful sound machine pedals at all and to my understanding it is not constructed for doing this. It works like a kind of synth sound module, its feedback producing options are unlimited, and to play simple melodies might be possible even for me at a later time. It further forces me to train on tap techniques with my left hand fingers. I even tried the staccato and pizzicato techniques as shown on the tutorial video, just for having some fun. However the point is to bring the string(s) to vibrate without getting the EBow middle channel to close to the string, that is learnable. Though plastic the construction is made of very solid material. Adding the two 9V batteries is a very nice gesture from this seller. Guitarists who like at least to produce some sound scapes like Jimmy Page does on "Dazed and Confused" definitely will love the Ebow. Carefully adjust the volume and treble an your amp and on your guitar, before you get started, less is much more here! I will keep on learning how to play with it. For now, I switch back to my guitar picks because I love to hear my PRS' clean and crisp sounds and my pedal army very much too!Added on January 7th: 2nd day of using the EBow, things work out much better. Got the right grip on it now, found the hot spot on the fret pick up and started to play first melodies. Used a Whammy pedal upfront with 1Octave down, 2Octave down, Dive bomb(!) and now things start to shine! From deepest cello sounds to horn/tuba sounds, this tool is able to do it right. Plus using an Analog PingPong delay which makes my guitar howl and growl from left to right cabs. Sigur Ros might have used this EBow on their earlier recordings. Slided and tapped with my fingers slowly slowly and the sustain is unbelievable. Involving the Whammy creates endless feedback sweepings by moving the pedal footswitch down and up. This is a steep learning curve worthwile to practise every day.Added on January 9th: Practising every day and still with my first 9v battery. By using the EBow in conjuction with my Whammy, DD-500 and Organizer pedals creates the most spheric soundscapes ever produced by my pedal army alone. Gets me very close to Moog Synth Blofeld or Evolver Oscillating LFO sounds. Playing string by string on all frets and enjoying it a lot. Tried my first kind of single note playing chords on A, D,G strings from the 12th fret upwards, by tapping the EBow on the sweet spot of the fret pick up from string to string. It is a tone by tone melody, and as long as I do not press the EBow too close to the vibrating strings, results are fantastic. Sounds like a classical tune, beautiful! Harmonics mode on the EBow works on frets 1-5 as well. The learning process using this tool takes indeed a lot of time, no doubt on that. But my personal reward is creating outlandish sounds, pieces of smaller classical tunes and sometimes unpredictable feedbacks which is great for me as a musician who likes being curious in exploring soundscapes beyond the controllable. I do like the EBow's versatility and definitely I can recommend it to every musician.

Outstanding Gizmo
The EBow is an outstanding gadget. It shipped on schedule and arrived in excellent condition. I bought one after seeing a TP & the Heartbreakers concert – Mike Campbell used it on one of their songs. Armed with any degree of creativity, you’ll find that the EBow has a great deal of potential for being synced into the arrangement of a great many tunes. And, EBow has a way cool web site that offers tutorials, suggestions, entertainment, etc. Warning: the EBow also has the potential for creating extended jam sessions, especially after you've mastered a few techniques.

The Ebow is legendary for a reason.
SO COOL! I've been wanting an Ebow for years, probably since not too long after picking up guitar in my teens. It's such a unique tool to the guitar. Finally decided to pull the trigger, and quite happy with it so far. Keep in mind, I'm still very new to using this, but thankfully it is fairly intuitive. Heet Sound's various tips/videos on their site are extremely helpful, but I also of course found excellent tips from Youtubers on how to get the best sound out of this. Definitely study up on how to play with an Ebow and you'll simply be thrilled. The Plus is a nice touch offering the 2nd mode with increased harmonics. Highly recommended accessory for literally any guitarist who plays any genre--this can be used in any setting.

Fun but one big and avoidable problem
The switch is tiny and weak, but worse its positioned where it's easy to accidentally flip. Feels like it'll break very soon. Better keep it in a box.

Cool product, very cool sounds...
Very cool Ebow, Works great, now you can sound like Depeche Mode and play walking in my shoes,..I always thought the sound in the song was a synthesizer, until I saw Martin Gore pull this out of and play it on his guitar..Fun to experiment with get cools sounds, recorded a couple of songs with it...fun add on.....Seems to work very well on G string, has two settings, takes a little bit to get the vibration figured out it creates, and where to place betweeen the pickups. I seem to like it closure to the neck pickup on fenders, and and seems to do well on both on my les paul’s..

GREAT LITTLE TOOL!
I've wanted one of these for awhile! It's one of those gadgets that while you probably don't need it provides so many elements here and there in a song. If you ever wanted to sustain that one note forever this is the gadget that does that. It takes a bit of getting used to and to find out where to place it on your particular guitar for optimum results as it is different between my Strat and my SG but all that came surprisingly fast with a little work. It took a while longer to move it from string to string quickly but once you have it down it is fun to use but not overuse if you know what I mean. Like any tool it has it's place but I am glad I finally bought this. Just another great little tool to add to my bag of tricks.

I love my Ebow!
I’ve never used one of these things before so I didn’t really know what to expect but I’ve loved learning how to use this thing it’s been really fun! It has two modes, one mode is just like a normal bow sound and the other mode brings out all the harmonics from each note. I‘be been having a whole lot of fun experimenting with everything I can do with this thing and I’m looking forward to learning more and better ways to apply it!!

Worth the Price
Fantastic addition to my bag of guitar tricks. This thing is as limited as your mind, meaning with enough creativity it can do just about anything. Very worth the price in my opinion.
