Beautiful Hardcover Edition
This is one of the most beautiful hardcovers I own. The pages are of:•decent thickness/smoothness•no printing ink marks•little see-through•nice fragranceThe binding is:•sturdy•fully openable, with all of the text easily visibleThere are illustrations in some pages, and aesthetic designs at the start of every chapter.Drawbacks to this hardcover edition:The book is quite heavy. With a book stand, the heaviness is hardly an issue; but it seems impossible to read just holding it.

Great Hardback Version
The media could not be loaded. This is about the hardback quality and not the story. This is a doubleday hardback and the font is very clear and the binding is quite good. The paper itself is quite smooth and feels very premium. Overall a good but if you want to add the complete and uncut version to your collection.

Books Voluminous/Ginormous but super interesting and griplling. This is 18+
The Stand is a powerful blend of suspense, drama, and human resilience. With vivid characters and a gripping plot, Stephen King delivers a masterful story that explores the best and worst of humanity. Though long, the narrative is engaging and thought-provoking. A must-read for fans of dystopian fiction.PS- its 5cm thick

More terrifying than the horror of this century.
M-O-O-N, that spells "I can't walk right now."Every country has an epic story between good and evil. Here in India, we have the Ramayana. Seven Samurai is Japan's pride. Star Wars is famous all over the world. So is The Lord of the Rings. But why not The Stand? Perhaps because it is filled with gruesome imagery. That should be one of the reasons why it stands out as a unique epic. The other main reason I enjoyed it was because it does not focus on the plague. The book concentrates on the mental development of its characters through the year, how they reconcile, recreate society, and the like. Stuart Redman grows less reticent over time. Fran Goldsmith learns to accept life as it comes. Nick Andros realizes his true potential as a leader. Tom Cullen learns responsibility near the end. And definitely not the least, Larry Underwood leaves behind his self-centeredness for good. Now, every novel has to have something that distinguishes itself from others. And that brings me to the supernatural element of the story.I used the word 'supernatural' because there is no explanation behind it. That is what adds more enigma to the story. After a plague decimates 99.4% of the Earth's population, the survivors begin to have recurring dreams about two contrasting people. Some of them are attracted to the benevolent Mother Abigail in Boulder, while the rest are forced to join Randall Flagg in Vegas. Flagg is mentioned to be an immortal being, an inhuman. Mother Abigail portrays hope and goodness within, whereas Flagg is the embodiment of evil in its purest form. Then again, there is the multitude of characters. What worries me most about reading epics is understanding each of them simultaneously. But that turned out to be real easy. Partly because each of them is unlike any other. Partly because none of them turned out to be disappointing.Unlike other dark stories, this one makes the reader feel pity for the antagonists as well, as and when they find themselves in a dire quicksand. For this particular achievement, Stephen King deserves much more than awards.Concerning the monstrosity of the book, don't worry about it. When King archives immersion, he will make sure that the reader doesn't feel time as well. But there is one thing to be worried about. It is by far the most disturbing story I've read. And I used the word as a compliment since it psychologically magnifies so much the pitiable state of the world and its survivors.

The Stand
The Stand. Ok, where do i start??!!!i'll start off with the superflu, captain trips, as KING himself started off. the idea of a flu wiping out whole population on earth is one helluva idea for a story or even for a movie. The great idea doesnt end as a idea itself. King gave it the form of a BOOK. The way the epidemic was released, the way it spreads. 400+ pages of just how the flu spreads - BOOK I - was an amazing way. Introducing all the main characters, telling how their lives changed with the flu hitting them and families, their stories, roads, paths, converging, and the point at which Stu, Harold, and Frannie meet and the Book I ends.....whoaaa it gave me Creeps. The 2nd Book (On the border) was swiftly flowing part of the book. Characters of THE KID and TrashcanMan were just mind boggling. scenes where larry goes through the Lincoln tunnel just blew me away.NICK and TOM CULLEN. what to say about these two characters....?!?!?! King is a master craftsmen at creating mentally or physically retarded characters...and even more he makes them THE MAIN LEADS (Stuttering Bill in IT)Tom made me laugh, Nick made me seriously move, and both of them made my eyes moist.Yea, the other 2 main roles - Mother and dark man - were good, but they were not as influential or impact creating as one might imagine them to create.Other padding character were as usual natural, in the first place, and next they were casual, as it is common with most of all SK's characters. What next??the ending??!! King does disappoint. I was let down by the end, but not completely. Th objective towards the end was not exactly to KILL or DESTROY dark man, in fact, he is shown to be born again, so no point in we expecting him to die, if we, then we are wrong. The end was how the WORLD starts to build again. How everything starts to be like it was before the flu.THEY STOOD. THE STAND was made by the survivors.P.S. killing larry and NICK was sad. TOM was alive that was a good thing.
