No water comes thru it and when it does it has tea leaf's, it needs a filter or something, the straw keeps falling out so you get nothing. But the tea leaf's in your mouth is terrible, not enough liquid to wash them down, help. No instructions inside either. It squirts hot liquid on you when straw is lifted, this is dangerous. Returning this, can not get any help.

Add yerba mate to the closed compartment, add hot water to the base, put it all together. Then I had to suck the water into the tea (maybe I could moisten it first with hot water) it's like sucking air. Then after a few minutes I was able to invert the thermos and drink yerba mate tea.The water stays hot. I put in very hot water, and the the rubber side of the bottle has not even gotten warm after over a half hour. This is probably the best bottle I have for just heat retention.No instructions are included, and perhaps it would be helpful to include them, if I just don't understand how to use it to pour, or how to use the straw. If you like to pour the drink into the cup on top, the plastic there seems very glossy and high quality. But I don't know how to pour it, because when I invert it more than 90 degrees to pour, tea also comes out the little air hole. That hole works well when you're sucking on the mouthpiece to get tea, but it reverses direction when you're trying to pour. When I covered it with a finger, first my finger felt the hot tea through the hole, but also the pour stopped after just a little bit.Also I don't know the purpose of the included plastic straw, as it does not fit into the mouthpiece because of the semicircular hole. It does fit into the mouthpiece of a similar regular (non yerba mate) thermos that I have, which does have a round hole, so I think they should modify either the straw or the mouthpiece.So I only know how to drink directly from the mouthpiece by sucking on it, which is also what the video on the product page shows, and I enjoy that. Now I can have yerba mate with me when I go on a day trip.
