Space-Saving and Sturdy – A Great Loft Ladder for Tight Spaces!
The media could not be loaded. After reading some mixed reviews I was a bit hesitant at first to purchase the ALUFIX 10-Tread Concertina Loft Ladder , but I have to say, it has exceeded my expectations! If you’re dealing with a small attic space and need a compact, practical solution, this ladder is a fantastic choice and it was easy to install.Pros:✅ Perfect for Small Spaces – The concertina design folds away neatly, making it ideal for tight attic openings✅ Sturdy Aluminium Build – Despite being lightweight, it feels strong and durable when in use✅ DIY-Friendly Installation – Comes with clear instructions, and I managed to fit it myself with minimal hassle✅ Smooth Operation – Extending and retracting the ladder is easier than I expected after a bit of practice but you will need to get a pole.Cons:⚠️ Narrow Steps – The treads could be a bit wider for more comfort, but they still provide a secure grip and of course, not everyone has a massive loft hatch so the steps have to be a certain width.⚠️ Stiff at First – The mechanism was slightly stiff initially, but it loosened up with useFinal Thoughts:If you need a space-saving loft ladder that’s easy to install and sturdy enough for regular use, this is a great option. It does take some getting used to, but once installed, it works smoothly and safely. Highly recommended for small attic spaces! 🚀And, while your at it, install a new loft hatch with a door that swings down. Getting into the loft has never been easier.

Surprisigly easy to install, but to make it even easier get some help.
Bought as a replacement for a Youngman telescopic ladder that I wasn't impressed by at all. A real struggle to install and in the final instance faulty. This ladder however is infinitely better and was surprisingly easy to install. As others have said, it really is a two person job, but I managed it with a bit of a struggle. Carrying the ladder, upwards into position against the joist above the hatch by step ladder was a decided struggle. Holding it to the joist and attaching it perhaps more so. I'm almost seventy and reasonably fit, but I would again recommend that you have someone stationed in the loft, to bear the weight, while you attach the plywood faceplate to the joist. The instructions are quite clear. Please note in particular that the ladder should be installed in the 'locked up' position. Do not attempt to install the ladder in the extended position 'open position'. It would be very dangerous and you are explicitly warned not to attempt it in the supplied instructions. At least four x two inch screwnails, or as i did, six for safety. The concertina ladder sits above the open hatch and you pull the ladder down towards you. Disengage the ladder from it's retention bar and pull the ladder down to the floor. The action is a bit stiff, but I think it will free off with use. DW40 would probably help with this. You probably wouldn't want it to be too slack in any case. I would invest in a more robust hooked pole to disengage and re-engage the ladder from the retaining bar as what is supplied isn't really adequate. To sum up, the concertina ladder seems well made, robust and should be able to bear the weight of a more than average person + anything you are lugging up down from your loft. I would recommend this ladder for it's ease of fitting (with assistance) and excellent construction. Make sure you order the correct ladder length.

Good
I was able to fit this by myself with a bit of perseverance. It might be quicker with 2 people however. It is a good product and feels safe walking up it. If you have a smaller loft opening (think mine was roughly 50 something cm x 50 something cm) it will take up a fair bit of the opening. You will get your body and some objects through but you won't be able to get cardboard boxes in and out of the loft.

Good quality, not too awkward installation
Great quality for the price. Two people needed to install, but not to difficult. Once installed it's very easy to use, sturdy enough for me, handy enough for once a week visit in the attic.

Do not buy
Very poorly packaged. This is obviously a chinese import.I don't have an issue with that. It seems to be very well made.Unfortunately the installation instructions make no sense whatsoever! There is a very serious risk of injury if this ladder is not installed correctly. The vendor does not provide any meaningful installation instructions!

Not such a quick fix.
Description indicates quick simple installation but I found this to be anything but. Fixings are not provided to mount ladder onto loft floor. Instructions gave no guidance on mounting but I used 4 inch size 10 bolts/nuts so template needed to sinc with holes drilled in ladder mounting plate prior to installation. If 1 man job I suggest using strong rope to support ladder if possible to assist fixing bolts otherwise this must be a 2 man job, one above in loft to hold ladder in place and the other below to place and fix bolts (this is a safety necessity). The plastic hook provided is inadequate to pull down the ladder so I would suggest investment in metal hook and strong pole offered as extra. Pulling ladder down is very difficult due to problem lifting it off retaining brackets. I have to stand on a stool to do this by hand. Other than these considerations the ladder works.
