Excellent extra Portafilter
Review is for the HUGH Leverpresso 51mm Pressurized Stainless Steel Portafilter Basket Coffee Filter...I picked this up, hoping it would fit ok for a 2nd Portafilter. I have a Mr. Coffee Cafe Barista, which I have had for a while now, still going strong...This portafilter fits perfectly if you are using the Mr. Coffee, BUT...the original portafilter has bumps on it to keep it in the holder, this one does not. Not a big deal, just be aware of it.What I found is that this filter as compared to the original is much "tighter", and not as much coffee comes through, or maybe just not as fast. That could be a good thing or a bad, but the espresso I made with this filter tasted just like with the stock filter...I don't think you can go wrong with picking this up.

Messy, due to narrow, forceful stream output
This filter basket fits my Pavant portafilter, but is difficult to install because of its wavy shape.Once installed, it filters the coffee, normally, but then forces everything through a single hole at its bottom. It’s a tiny hole, which increases the pressure, thereby creating a forceful expulsion of liquid! This produces a lot of unnecessary foam in your cup, and tends to splash a lot, creating a mess.In addition, the interior of the filter does not have straight sides, so it is slightly more difficult to wipe clean. Also, because the filter is composed of TWO layers of perforated metal — a standard metal coffee filter inside, separated slightly from a solid metal bottom with a single, tiny hole in it, on the outside! — this product is difficult to keep clean of old grounds, because the layers cannot be disassembled. I predict that the empty space between the filter layers will eventually get clogged with fine coffee particles that may never come out.

Elevated Espresso Experience
Recently, I upgraded to a bottomless portafilter for my espresso machine, but I faced a hurdle with the non-pressurized basket it came with. Due to my machine's limitations, it struggled to generate sufficient pressure, resulting in lackluster crema. However, upon acquiring the HUGH Leverpresso 51mm Pressurized Stainless Steel Portafilter Basket, this issue was swiftly resolved. The pressurized design ensured optimal extraction, resulting in an abundance of crema that too much at first. While it took some adjustment to the grind, I'm thoroughly impressed with the enhanced espresso experience this basket has delivered. Overall, the HUGH Pressurized Portafilter Basket has transformed my espresso-making journey, elevating it to new heights of flavor and quality.

A HUGH miss.
I have spent a few hours, four actually, trying to learn the correct way to use this filter. I wouldn't have tried so long if it wasn't an original HUGH filter, I loved their more popular non-pressureized filters, but I wasn't able to get a good pour with this one. It's a sudsy, soapy pour that I was not able to solve; I've tried decreasing pouring time, lowering temps, raising temps, using three different brands of beans, misting my beans, and trying eight different grind sizes. Perhaps it's possible to create a suds-free espresso with this basket, but I'm not able to find out how. Also, it is a bit smaller than a 51mm filter, causing a loose fit that prevents you from banging it on a knock box to clean it off. I genuinely can't think of a single positive which is such a shame for a brand I love. I never thought I'd be throwing a HUGH product in the trash.

BRILLIANT! THE ANSWER TO ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH DE'LONGHI TAPERED FILTER BASKETS.
The media could not be loaded. Holy smokes! I’ve been struggling with the new De’Longhi Dedica Maestro Plus for weeks, trying to get a proper espresso extraction, to no avail. All the Dedica’s filter baskets are tapered — as is the portafilter — so none of my tools work, not the distributor, not the puck filter, not the tamper. This HUGH filter basket is not tapered. It fits the Dedica portafilter perfectly. With my new Hugh filter basket, I can use my distributor on my coffee powder. I can use my spring-loaded tamper with my new Hugh filter basket. I can set a 51mm puck filter on my new Hugh filter basket. And judge for yourself the espresso extraction that poured like warm honey from the new Hugh filter basket into my glass. This filter basket is the answer to all the De’Longhi problems. And it’s $11.99!

Fits my Breville Cafe Roma perfectly
It's so nice to be able to pull a good shot of espresso again! The flow of espresso and generous crema produced makes me wish we'd thought to replace our old basket sooner. We have been using the original one that came with the Cafe Roma we've had for over 15 years and the quality of the shots had really declined recently. This new basket fits perfectly- it slides into the portafilter without too much effort but it also doesn't fall out when you bang out the used grounds. But best of all- we now can produce wonderful shots again!
