It’s funny business as usual, as Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch celebrates 100 episodes of comedy and laughter in this uproarious five-season collection. Join Michael Scott (Steve Carell) and his downtrodden staff of paper pushers as they shamelessly conduct their office affairs in front of the all-seeing eyes of a documentary film crew. Amazing TV.
So far, I have watched seasons 1-4.As a big fan of the UK show (and Ricky Gervais in general), I didn't know how this would compare. But Steve Carrell is THE MAN!I knew he was great as Evan, in Bruce Almighty and funny in The 40-year old virgin, but he steals the show with this.He plays the character perfectly. In fact, the whole cast fits perfectly.Season one is basically a replica of Series one of the UK version.Afterwards, the show turns into it's own and runs with it.I recently sat down and watched the English shows and, to be honest, they look a little dated now. This is fresh. Is it as good as the original show?It may be even better (in my opinion). You have to give credit where it is due.The Americans (whoever produced/scripted/cast all this) have done a fantastic job.Yes, there is the odd reference to American culture, but these are infrequent and don't ruin the show for us Brits. Each episode is worth watching. It doesn't feel like there is any filler. It's just a joy to watch, and I'll definitely come back again for Round Two.5 STARS

Brilliant!
Before you read this you must know I live and breathe The Office so my view may be slightly biased! You will fall in love with this show. The characters are so loveable. You never get bored of seeing the actual office they work in. The first season is not brilliant in all honesty, the quality is very poor and its almost an exact replica of the UK version but adds its own charm. When you get to season 2 The Office US starts to take its own and will leave you wanting more every episode. Very odd humour, sometimes you are waiting for something funny to happen but it doesn't but when it does you cant stop. The stupidity of the Office manager is incredible and some amazing acting by Steve Carell (and all the rest of the cast for that matter). If you don't love this show you are mad!If you don't like American shows or American humour then please don't listen to my review :D

I absolutely love it!! Amazing show. Better than the UK show
This box set kept my spirits high during my recovery after a major surgery. I fell in love with this show on Comedy Central. But, after ordering the box set- I absolutely love it and the awesome and unique characters! You cannot go wrong purchasing this for £20- I paid a lot more! It's always a toss up between who I love most, but I thoroughly enjoy Dwight and Michael. Both are fabulous. They're kind of like the Patsy and Eddy from the show Absolutely Fabulous- both crazy in a good way, but both love and accept each other's craziness. There are also some fantastic other storylines. I think Jim and Pam are great, but it's not my favourite love story. They have a subtle love. I love the love stories where the passion and connection is obvious, like Holly and Michael, or Dwight and Angela. But there is definitely something for everyone, and there are so many tender moments and laugh aloud moments. What are you waiting for? Buy it!

Fantastic!
I only started watching The Office (US edition) in the last month or so as season 7 has been airing on TV so I was eager to get hold of the earlier series and this boxset seemed like great value. As you can guess from my rating I was really impressed, one thing I had believed before is that it could be nowhere near as good as the original Office on the BBC. Well I hate to say it but I think in some ways this is a more polished show, perhaps that's to be expected from a much longer running series with a much bigger budget. Anyway, I feel that whilst the first episodes clearly draw from the the BBC series it quickly becomes distinctive in its own right and is well worth owning whether you like the original Office or not. Some previous reviewers have mentioned high voices in the first series, I did notice this in the pilot episode a few times but since then I haven't encountered that.Enjoy!

Basically it seemed like maybe 3
I was a big fan of the UK 'Office', so this Americanised version came to me via a family member. Now I prefer this American version, I think purely for the depth of character/storyline/number of episodes, this is tops This is box set series our whole family sat down to watch together (which never happens). We all saw similarities with the characters and family members, which added to the humour..The lack of 5 stars is because the series was let down at the end by compilation/re-run episodes, and some mismatched/stitched together storyline/finale episodes which just didn't gel. Basically it seemed like maybe 3, or 4 full length episodes, were cut-up to end the series, some scenes jump back and forward, so if you put the kettle on, you don't know where you are. Also there is no definitive episode index system, so if family members watch a few episodes ahead, it's difficult to find the missing ones without placing each suspect dvd disc into the machine and partially watching every episode. I don't want to sound too negative, for me this is one series where American and English humour overlap, we all loved it , and have since moved on to 'Parks and Rec', an 'The Mindy Project'....

Thoroughly enjoyed!
Hadn't got into this while it was on TV so knew very little about it but the clips I had seen looked funny so gave it a try. Ended up buying the box set as it was so much cheaper than buying the seasons individually. I certainly wasn't disappointed - I loved it! Having watched the UK Office I was concerned the early seasons may be too "copy cat" but they were different enough to be enjoyable and really set the scene for the following excellent seasons. I think I prefer it to the UK version because the cringe moments are more funny than excruciating. I loved the slow build of the Jim and Pam relationship but there are so many excellent characters! Can't recommend it highly enough and can't wait for the next season on DVD!
