Interesting insight into native tribes and the landscape.

Brilliant book
A truly exceptional glimpse into this period and place in history. Of particular interest are the authors descriptions of native Indian encounters and his experiences of life amongst them. The language is of its time (ie not PC) but does provide a very accurate portrayal of life, beliefs and culture. It’s completely without dramatic embellishments making the narrative all the more remarkable. The journeys and hardships described are amazing. Highly recommended
