Light, practical and great for watercolour paper
I don't know why the description for this art board looks like it is the half imperial size when it is actually quarter imperial (a bit larger than A4 and suitable for that). This board is really nice and light, easily transported and comfortable to have on your lap if you need to. It is smooth surfaced on both sides and can be used either way round. Perfect for stretching watercolour paper onto before using and works well with an easel. It seems built to last well despite its lightness.Very good and just what I was looking for. I have this in both the 1/4 and 1/2 imperial sizes and they are both ideal.

Very useful at classes or open air drawing and painting. Not heavy or to large to be cumbersome

Just the right size, lightweight and portable
I wanted a drawing board for watercolour painting and it was more difficult than I expected to find something a little larger than A4, lightweight and easily portable. For what you get, it could be argued that the board is on the expensive side but it appears well finished and it fits my needs perfectly. Tape - I use both microporous surgical tape and FrogTape - applies easily and removes cleanly. Should I need to do so, I can support the back edge of the board so that I'm painting at an angle of 30 degrees and letting the paint run more freely down the paper. I don't want or need an easel, so this is a perfect solution to the occasional need for an angled work surface.I'm so happy with this that I've recommended it to a couple of other new watercolourists, which I suppose says everything.

Ideal lightweight board
Great for using at home or taking Out to my art class.

Disappointing quality and poor value for money.
On the plus side, it is light but the board is otherwise cheaply-made and poorly finished. The board itself is a light wood like balsa framed with a harder wood glued and pinned in place to give it strength and rigidity. On mine the pins stand slightly proud and the frame is badly glued / filled to hide poor edges and joins. There is no coating to protect from water and I believe the board will warp over time: the surface on mine is already slightly uneven. At £12 not a massive outlay but I'm disappointed and wouldn't recommend.

Very effective
These are great, so light weight. I use them for stretching A5 paper for my yoga card paintings and they make it easy to work.I can lift them easily to work on and then return back to position, for drying, they seem to handle the wet paper, being stretched and the wetting to remove the paintings when complete.Very happy with them.

Excellent Drawing Board!
This is a great drawing board to carry in your art kit or use at home if you want to use it on an easel or for lap top painting. It fits A3 paper well and also good for smaller sizes, as you would expect it weighs very little. Price was the very best I could find online. Thank you for speedy delivery!
