perfect sharpener stones
I am a knife collector and use all my knives on a rotational manner, and have both electric and static types of sharpening tool, polishes, oils, leather strops to keep things sharp. These stones offer a greater extra fine sharpening of the blades then my diamond plates do.Great bargain, so get them you will appreciate how nice they work cfor that ultra sharp edge.

The stone created great results
I couldn’t figure out the guide. It doesn’t seem to work on pocket knives. I just used 2 quarters to keep the angle on the kitchen knives. The knife was incredibly sharp after using the stone .

Works great if you're patient
Watch a few YT videos about this and get going with this dual stone. I thought I needed a 300 or 400 grit stone like one video said, but these are enough. Start with the 1K for about 5-8 minutes per side. You're not grinding away much with a 1K stone: that would take you forever. When you glide along, try to use the full length of the stone with each swipe. Eventually, you'll need to buy a leveling stone to level it out--but that's not until you notice a dip in the stone. You need a completely flat stone for best results. When a burr develops on one side, it's time to switch. Run that thing up and down, back and forth for a good 5-8 minutes. You don't have to press hard, just slight pressure to get a good swipe. Then, go back and forth sides until you feel that burr is gone. It's time to step up to the 6K side now.The 6K side does a little more than polishing, as others might suggest. It makes the edge sharp still. Japanese knives will take longer to sharper because of harder steel. Use the spacer tool they give you to get the 20 degree angle, but really for Japanese you need a 15 degree angle. The spacer was good enough for me. I'm too new at this to do it freehand and guess what 15 degrees is.Also, I took masking tape and wrapped it twice around where the knife meets the handle. You don't want to grind the handle part and this protects it. After the 6K session, try to cut a tomato or pickle into thin slices. That's a good test. It will never be like a razor blade, but it should be a lot sharper than it was for doing this. The first time with there things will take you 20 minutes or so, but you'll get faster. Also, I put a damp cloth on the counter between the wood holder. That keeps it form moving around. Good luck!

Handy angle guide for novice user
I am obsessive about having sharp knives but have been unsuccessful with a honing stone in the past because I had the knives at the wrong angle. The included guide was perfect for showing me my error. The stone has two sides with different grits that are perfect for maintaining a sharp edge. I use the stone every couple of weeks and my knives are always sharp.

Works but do not be expecting it to be razor sharp
After a few weeks of using this product, it does sharpen the knives I have used on it. The technique I would recommend watching youtube videos to properly sharpen your knives. The angle part that goes on the knives as said in the instructions scratches up the blade towards the back side of the knife, so warning on using it because I am glad I used it on a cheap 30$ knife from amazon. For my pocket knives, it does sharpen them enough to be useable, and I think it needs to have a higher grit number to get them razor sharp. Overall it is a good start to get practice into sharpening knives, but as for a day to day user like me for now, is very good to get the proper technique practice on but I do not recommend using expensive or nice knives on it as getting a new edge, bevel, and sharpness is a process and not worth trying it on expensive knives. If you are looking to making your knives razor sharp, some youtube videos will say to get diamond sharpening stones but they are pricier in comparison to this item. I do wish they included higher grit stones with it up to 8k, 10k or 12k grit just to see how sharp I can get the knives.
