Seam Sealing Tape - WBM FX-800 – Hot Melt - Waterproof PU Coated Fabric– Repair Tape - 20 Metres - Iron On (Clear (Transparent), 22mm Width)

Used this tape to seam seal a pair of waterproof trousers I had made from SILpoly. Care and patience is required in its application but the result seems good. Best arrangement I found was to lay the garment (inside up) with the seam lying along a length of wood about 30mm wide (ie a little wider than the tape) and with a remnant of a soft fabric ( I used and old thickest T-shirt) between the wood and garment. Run the tape (inside of the roll downwards) along the seam. With an iron set to 'wool' and a piece of greaseproof paper between it and the tape press firmly moving the iron back and forth over the tape. The dwell time and pressure need to be experimented with but a guide, quite high pressure and several second dwell time.The remnant of material between wood and garment allowed the seam stitching to 'sink' into the material and so present a flatter profile to the iron.Be patient and test your set up first to perfect pressure and dwell.

First pictures show the state of the seams on our tent before. Old sealant was peeling off and came off very easily. Last two pictures show the after. Found it relatively easy to apply.. wool setting on the iron and greaseproof paper between, leaving it on for 5-7 seconds as the listing suggests. One or two bits didn’t stick as well but with a little bit of trial and error I got the whole tent done. Luckily had just enough tape from one roll to do the whole tent. Tent is a 3man (I think) domed tent.Would recommend and use again.

I used this to reseal the seams on my bivvy as the original had lifted in many places due to poor storage conditions.I've used much cheaper tape before with the same application method and have had the same results so i did think it was overpriced and would not purchase again for that reason.Application is a little fiddly and the parchment/greaseproof paper doesn't work. I use a teflon baking sheet and that never sticks at any temperature. Use a piece of wood just a little wider than the tape and wrap a cotton tea towel round it as the ironing surface, this will stop the surrounding area of the fabric getting too hot. The iron needs to be medium hot and will need some pressure for at least 3 seconds upward depending on the thickness of the seams. If you touch the tape with the bare iron plate it'll stick like the proverbial sh.t to a blanket!It's a time consuming process but if you do it right it gives a good neat factory finish and seals really well.This is a good product that when applied correctly and not rushed will give a factory finish but other tapes do the same thing at half the price.

I bought this tape to seal the seams on my old mountaineering tent. I was using a domestic iron with parchment paper, used for cooking, to isolate the tape from the hot iron. I found it extremely difficult to set the correct temperature on the iron. The tape would either melt or not soften and stick. If I did get the temperature right I found it difficult to place the tape accurately through the parchment paper. I also found it difficult to put on the right amount of pressure to get the whole width of the tape to seal. The whole job took forever. When I got it right it looked quite professional. However, overall the job looked a bit amatuer. When I next used the tent in a storm, sadly it still l leaked. I'm sure this is good stuff if you have experience and the right tools.

I was a bit sceptical when the tape arrived in a clear cellophane pack with no instructions, however after reading advice on the amazon page and advice off several previous purchasers it proved to be very good. As previously stated by a few people wool setting on an iron is about right..and I kept it on for 10 secs.Very good on a tent fly sheet...not sure about clothing ...yet

I used this tape to fix hood on my jacket which was becoming unglued. The instructions are pretty vague. You need to heat the tape enough to melt it but not melt your jacket so protect the areas around the fix with a tea towel. It had held well and the fix is good.

This tape seems to be slightly better than the tape used by the manufacturers of tents. A household iron and ironing-board on a Wool setting works fine with greaseproof paper between iron and tape, however peel back the greaseproof paper as soon as you lift the iron as the paper tends to stick to the tape. Beware not to melt existing sealing tape. I found this tape easy to use and it sealed well (even at edges) over newly sewn and existing seams. Once the tape has cooled it is not easy to pull it off, so adheres well. Dries clear. You also get loads of tape for the money. I would definitely buy again if needed. Recommended!
