UPDATE: Resolved -Completely dead before a year's time
UPDATE: Since leaving this review and contacting the seller, they have since replaced the battery at no cost. They were extremely communicative and apologetic. The problem did seem like a manufacturing defect since the battery showed it was fully charged on the charger and it wasnt a matter of slow death, rather one day it just didnt work. Fingers crossed this battery lasts longer than the previous one!I purchased this battery when my original battery started losing longevity. The replacement worked great until it didnt work at all. My original battery is still working, still with a shorter runtime, but it is still working. THIS battery gave no indication of failure, just starts and dies before it gets to full power. Disappointed in its life span. I know they dont live forever but I was expecting to get more than a year of usability out of it.

A Helpful Company with Woefully, Persistently Inadequate, and ultimate worthless Batteries
A. Introduction.I am revising my original May 31, 2023, Amazon product review a third time, now on February 29, 2024. The first revision was on June 21, 2023, three weeks after I posted the review. Next, I revised it the second time on January 28, 2024, including even more definitive test results than before. I should mention that on June 21, I also added the results of subsequent product use on November 1, 2023, which was delayed so long due to persistent drought that made another lawn-mowing unnecessary before then. This third review/revision/update follows another lawn-mowing, this one occasioned by a bunch of rain. All of these reports cover exactly five uses of two Dsanke batteries (you will see why it is two batteries).I purchased one battery on May 16, 2023, and received it on May 21. The performance was notably unacceptable, so that day I wrote a candid, necessarily uncomplimentary product review and began a return with Amazon. The seller sent me a message on June 3 apologizing for “any inconvenience” and offering to refund directly. I accepted, not canceling the Amazon refund process until my credit card had received the credit. I also was told by the seller not to bother returning the bad battery and that another one would be furnished gratis to demonstrate their sincerity and to attempt redeem my view of the quality of their product. They said that they were getting new batteries shortly from the factory.I should mention that no quid pro quo was involved: The seller did not suggest that I change my review, which I was glad to see (and also is Amazon policy). I agreed to accept the second battery, under the circumstances that included no risk, cost, or inconvenience to me at all. I did volunteer to do some minimal communication work (part of what I do professionally) for the company gratis, but that was after they had made their offer and I had accepted. This simply was a way to exhibit gratitude. (I never heard from the company about this offer.)B. Here is the essence of my May 31 review, in which the product rated one star (which is because a no-star rating was not possible):Despite the positive reviews here, I did not have a good experience. I guess I’ll have to return the battery for a refund.I have a decent-sized front lawn and a substantial back one (at least twice the size of the front). My original (purchased with the lawn mower in June 2021) Kobalt 6Ah battery—very impressive—would cut the front and about a third or half the back on one charge, but if I want to cut the whole thing at one time, I have to wait for that battery to recharge.Based on the original battery’s performance, this 3Ah battery should have cut the front, or nearly so, on its own, thus permitting me to finish mowing with the 6Ah battery.I received the new battery on May 21 and immediately put it on the charger to fill it up. Then ten days later—May 31—I put it on the charger again preparatory to beginning the mowing. During this short interval, it had leaked enough juice to require about 20 minutes on the charger. This certainly was not encouraging. To make a long story short, the battery ran of juice after 24 minutes of run time. The power indicating lights on the lawn mower declined rapidly from all four to one in 20 minutes of run time; at 22 minutes, the last light on the battery began flashing, and then, as I said, at 24 minutes, the lawn mower stopped dead.C. And now, three weeks later (June 21), I have done a more carefully controlled and measured battery use record with another lawn mowing, just concluded. This time, I used my Kobalt 80v 6Ah battery, the original Dsanke 80v 3Ah battery, and the replacement Dsanke 80v 3Ah battery. I raised the rating to two stars because of the effort the company made to make good.1. Points bearing on this new review.a. I decided to try the original, poor-performance battery one more time to see if there were any material change before I dismantle it to find out what quality Li-Ion cells it contains.b. The Kobalt battery is included as a control, given that a decent 80v 3Ah Li-Ion battery should run just about half the time of the 6Ah Kobalt.c. All batteries were kept in the house (74̊ F) and not outside (about 104̊ F during the mowing), each being out of the house only to transport to the mower, install, use, remove, and bring back in.d. A precision sweep-hand stopwatch was used to track battery run time. Whenever I started the mower, I started the watch; when I stopped the mower, I stopped the watch. Generously allowing for little lag times between one and the other, ±30 seconds variance for each time interval cited is more than fair (it very likely is more like ±10 seconds or less).e. A difference between how the Kobalt and Dsanke batteries display power level was a minor issue. The Kobalt battery has three power level lights, whereas the Desanke batteries have four—which match the four power level lights on the handle display of the lawn mower. Frankly, this three-light business on the Kobalt battery is slightly irritating, but it winds up being a non-issue given that those lights illuminate only when the battery is being charged and when it is first inserted into the mower—but not when the mower is running. The Dsanke batteries, on the other hand, display power level lights whenever the mower is running (a slight, unnecessary use of power given that the mower handle display is more than adequate for the need).f. The grass was about two inches taller than its cut level, which means that one pass with the mower at a normal walking speed was entirely adequate to get a proper cut. The motor (and each installed battery) therefore was not more than minimally taxed. Also, in the interest of decently equivalent battery performance and comparisons, I never used the self-propel feature on the lawn mower.g. I fully charged all three batteries no more than 18 hours before I used them. Here are the results as measured with a good VOM (volt-ohm meter) immediately after charging: i. Kobalt 80v - 6Ah—82.8 volts; ii. Original Dsanke 80v - 3Ah—81.1 volts (charge took 31 minutes); and iii. New Dsanke 80v - 3Ah—80.8 volts (charge took 23.5 minutes). So far, so good, but recall that the old Dsanke battery had leaked power enough in the ten days between its first full charge and its first use on the lawn to require 20 minutes in the charger to top it up—which is why I did not charge the batteries until less than a day before I would use them.2. Battery use narrative.a. Original Dsanke—I began with this battery, which measured 80.9 volts immediately before it began powering the lawn mower. Here is the run record of the battery: i. Four power indicator lights were reduced to three within 10 seconds. ii. Three lights became two at :08 (minutes) in. iii. At :20, only one light was on. iv. By :26, the one light was flashing. v. At :28 I stopped for a break, but upon trying to resume a few minutes later, the mower would not restart: The battery was effectively dead, the voltage level measuring 64.4 at this point.b. New Dsanke—This went into the mower next, having measured 80.5 volts before going in. Here is the run record of the battery: i. Four lights became three within 10 seconds. ii. Three lights became two at :05 in. iii. Two lights reduced to one at :19. iv. At :26, the one light began flashing. v. Stopping for a break at :29, the mower, as I suspected would happen, did not restart. The terminal voltage reading was 67.1.c. Kobalt—This handled the rest of the job—about 1/3 of the back yard and all of the front—with a beginning charge of 82.9 volts and a terminal voltage of 73.3. This was after 1 hour and 47 minutes of run time and about halfway into its two-light power display phase, meaning that had I sat reading a book while holding the throttle on, it probably would have run another 35 or 40 minutes, which is consistent with my previous experience (Kobalt claims that it will run for two hours on a charge, but I always have gotten a good bit more on an average lawn and with no self-propel use).D. Conclusion. The company was very handsome in attempting to redress the problem, and they must be credited where credit is due. But in the end it is the product’s performance that is the deciding factor. It is impossible to see how two 3Ah batteries—each of which, when carefully tested, had a run time of less than a half-hour—can be considered even minimally adequate against a performance standard of a 6Ah battery that is rated by the manufacturer to run four times that long and, in my experience, runs a good bit longer than that.I have awarded two stars, principally because of the company’s earnest attempts at correcting the problem, but the two batteries I have tested are not two-star batteries. I wish it were otherwise, but it’s not.E. November 1, 2023, addendum.I used all three batteries, fully charged, to mow the front and back lawns again. I am sorry but not surprised to say that the run time of the two Dsanke batteries almost exactly duplicated their June 21, 2003, use except that the four lights on both batteries came on and off seemingly at random and did not have much to do with remaining power.Given that the Dsanke batteries truly are substantially inferior, two stars is overly generous, which is why I have reduced the rating back to one star.F. January 28, 2024, addendum. This will be short, given that any changes have only been negative ones.Yesterday, as described in the introduction here, circumstances required a lawn-mowing even though I can't recall ever having had to do this in any previous winter. I charged all three batteries prior to mowing just to ensure that they were as equal as possible. The day was clear, temperature in the 50s, and dew point in the low 50s, meaning that it was a lovely day to mow a lawn. The Kobalt battery performed as expected. The "old" Dsanke battery lasted for 22 minutes of run time (plus or minus a minute) before failing. Then, before inserting and continuing with the "new" Dsanke battery, I stuck it in the Kobalt charger just to see what would happen.I was thunderstruck when I saw that this battery, supposedly fully charged not three hours earlier, did not display four solid lights as it should have done but had only the first two lights solid and the third one flashing. When it finally stopped charging with four solid lights, I remove it and inserted it again in the charger. This time three lights were solid and the fourth flashed as it began charging again.I repeated this remove-and-reinsert five more times, in each case seeing the fourth light flashing to indicate further charging when it was supposed to have completed charging. I did not do any more of this, by now thoroughly disgusted with what I was seeing. Oh, yes: The Kobalt battery, upon being reinserted in the charger after the charging has been completed, does nothing---which is supposed to be what happens. As I mentioned earlier, I was going to dismantle the "old" Dsanke battery to see what quality cells it contained, but I decided that this was a waste of time. The cells, whatever they are and whoever manufactured them, clearly are a robust grade of inferior. If not, these batteries would display some acceptable degree of quality, which they do not.I cannot say they are worthless, but the next step down from what they are indeed is worthlessness.G. Now we have reached worthlessness, rating of zero stars, were that possible.1. Conditions at mowing time: February 29, late morning and early afternoon.a. It had not rained for nearly a month, but there had been enough rain before that, followed by unseasonably warm weather over many of the days to encourage lawn growth, very rare here this time of year.b. The lawn was about the same length and condition as the other mowings reported here. Also, because the dewpoint has been in the 20s and low 30s over the last 24 hours, there was no dew this morning and the grass was absolutely dry.c. All three batteries had been fully charged exactly two months ago: January 29. I decided not to top of the two Desanke batteries, because with decent batteries, negligible leakage should occur in that amount of time.3. Battery use narrative.a. Kobalt—Performed exactly as expected, exhibiting no leakage at all.b. Old Dsanke—Lasted for 13 minutes of run time before stopping dead. Clearly, this battery, extra-lousy at best, had leaked over half its power.c. New Dsanke—Lasted for 7—yes, seven—minutes of run time before stopping dead.H. New conclusion—and this is the last update I’ll make, because what would be the point of further reviewing something worthless?Maybe it’s not worthless if you need an anchor for a small boat, or more ballast in a garbage scow, or a sculpture for the Talentless Artists’ Convention. Otherwise, forget it.Oh, yes: I do plan to disassemble at least one of these after all. I’ll bet I can find some good-quality cells for a good bit less that what a good-quality 80v 3Ah battery would cost and then assemble my own good-quality battery.

Works great while it works...
After 6 months of very infrequent use it does not seem to hold a charge very well. Luckily I only use it in a small area. Would be really unhappy if I needed to use it a bunch. I will go name brand next time.Edit: 1 day after 3star review they contacted me and offered to make it right. Impressive customer service in this day and age.

Decent price for a compatible replacement battery
First thing I did was put it on the Kobalt charger and it charged safely including shutting off when full.Next put it in the Kobalt mower and it worked just fine. I can't say that I got extra time out of it as the listing hinted, but definitely got same amount making this a worthy replacement battery at a reduced price. Will probably purchase another one to put a third battery in rotation.

Don’t spend the money.
Do not waste your money! I now have three of these that I have tried and none of them will hold a charge. I am now going to look for a different brand. It’s costing me money to return them.

Perfect fit but not near as good as the original.
This fit great and worked but don't last near as long as the original did when using. Even though my original one is quite old, it's still holds a charge longer then this newer one.

Pricey but work well.
I shopped this battery & was afraid to try a much cheaper one that I found. This one was priced on the low end of the others, so I bought it. Works well, so far.
