Bought this for my 8 year old who has severe dyslexia. I had been considering the more expensive C reader pen, but wanted to try out this one at less than a third of the price. Half expected I'd need to return it, but no! The pen works brilliantly, scanning text line by line then reading them back. It can of course translate languages, but we just need it to read out English clearly and smoothly enough for our son to follow and understand. Use of the pen to scan individuals lines is efficient once you get used to following the lines smoothly. It's not hard for our 8 year old after a little practice but would be much harder for visually impaired people. It can do multiple lines before it reads them all back. The menu is clear but it is a case of hunting round for things. Language is marked as US English. The read back started out with US pronunciation, but I found you can change this to British pronunciation which was good. Connected to WIFI easily, but works offline for what we need. Connected Bluetooth headphones so he won't disturb his classmates. There's maybe a 2 or 3 second pause before reading back, but it's accurate and smooth when it does. Really impressed and pleased. Also has a camera feature to scan and decode a full page, but although it identifies the words it annoyingly it misses all the spaces so read back makes no sense.

Bought this as a present for my wife it has proved to be good for her reading as she loves reading which I find strange but she has really improved since the iPad has been great but you can’t always have that with you but the pen fits in to her pocket and it reads what’s on the page it’s brilliant as it reads Uk English rather than that annoying American accents so it’s brilliant I think it’s great saves her asking me and helps me if I can’t read it also it can translate languages so top for me

It does what it says but all the dictionaries and vocabulary is in Chinese. Is there anyway it can be changed or updated to work with European languages. Its default is Chinese and I would like to use it in Europe.

This does work, unfortunately my children don't use it.

Didn't work properly

I bought this as a present for my mother's 80 th birthday to help her as she is dyslexic. It does picture translate but doesn't separate some words and states numbers in Chinese in a English sentence with a strong Chinese accent so very hard to understand. Total waste of money and very disappointing.not fit for purpose and I could only get photo translation to work not the pen reader. Just more junk to put in the bin.😡

So far, I'm very impressed! Bought for an 8yr old. Very easy set up. Speak out loud with out any need to be connected to another device or WiFi! Looking forward to exploring it further. It also come with a screen Procter and cover.

This product has changed my Grandson and Nieces lives. Its helped them so much with their Dyslexia. They've gotten more confidence within their school and work. So much so that my Grandson has never been able to finish an end of term paper until now. Its truly amazing. 113 languages it reads, reads for you, has a dictionary and helps to even break down the words and how to actually say the words. This has helped my grandson so much the school is considering to get them to help more children.
