Just get it!
Solid as a rock. Gorgeous tone. For the price? Just get it!Only negative? Be a bit careful when you stomp the switch, that way you don’t crush the control knobs. But for the price? C’mon. My 2nd Horse pedal.

Not an overdrive
When I read the title “ Ultimate Drive” I think overdrive. In my opinion this thing is a high gain distortion pedal for more metal than classic rock tone. That’s not a bad thing if that’s what you’re after, it’s not what I’m after. I’ll probably use it to boost my other overdrive pedal for solos. With the drive all the way down it might be usable for that. Also, the tone knob is very sensitive, one millimeter turn makes a huge difference at the one o’clock position.

Pretty ok
This got pretty good reviews, and the price was good. In fairness I think it’s ok. Doesn’t work well with my DS1 , but it does ok as a clean boost.

Actually analog!
It's pretty remarkable that you get a genuine, analog chorus pedal, in a metal enclosure, for around $17. It's a clone of an Ibanez CS9, and it uses what look like salvaged, but authentic chips: MN3207 & MN3102. They've even improved upon the original, and changed it to true bypass.Unlike many clone pedals, there's no blindingly blue LED. It's a relatively tame, clear red.

Fantastic TS Style Overdrive Pedal at a great price!
The media could not be loaded. This is a fantastic sounding light TS-style overdrive pedal. It does what a TS pedal is supposed to do, pushes your amp into a nice, mid-gain overdrive. The gain range goes from light breakup to a heavier crunch. The tone does what a tone knob is supposed to do, and the volume will give you a slight boost at it's max volume settings. The real win with this pedal is the price + the footprint + the construction. At this price, you probably wouldn't expect much from the build quality, but this is a very well built and robust pedal, you could easily throw this on a gigging pedal board and not worry about it getting damaged. And even if you're unnecessarily abusive to your pedals and somehow do manage to damage it, the price makes it easy to replace. I'd recommend this pedal for any beginner player who wants to get their first overdrive pedal or an intermediate or journeyman player who wants a working TS style overdrive that they can put on a board and not worry about. In the audio clip I'll include with this, I used a stock Reverend Flatroc into a Fender Superchamp X2. Buy this pedal!

From Growl to Grunt - Its All Here.
Today's guitarists look for a lot in the pedals. Lots of promises as much as lots of performance. This Horse branded pedal provides the later, but does not have the name recognition (or elevated price tag) to suggest the former. No matter. It performs well and seems robustly built. The Gain control adds overdriven tube type harmonics, as well as some compression, this from very moderate up to a heavy enough dose to be called true distortion. The level control allows one to balance the output level so that the pedal on/off level matches. But it also allows the pedal to drive an amp's front end and bring on the then overdriven tube's own distortion and compression effects. Add a basic tone control and a switch that enriches the bottom while reducing the highs and a player has lots of good sounding tonal options.Highly recommended!
