Vertiv Liebert 1500VA 1350W 120V Advanced AVR Line-Interactive UPS, Pure Sine Wave, 2U Rackmount/Tower, Supports Active PFC (PS1500RT3-120)

I’ve not reviewed too many items on Amazon, but feel compelled to say something about the Liebert UPS I purchased recently. I’ve purchased and used many UPS systems over the years, from many manufacturers - from small power strip style UPS systems for protecting individual office PC’s, to large rack mounted UPS systems for powering 72” equipment racks. Out of the box this UPS is one of the better built units I’ve seen. The enclosure is metal, and feels very solid. All outlets are UPS protected, without any wasted on “surge only” protection, which is a refreshing change if you’ve ever had a computer accidentally plugged into a non-battery backed outlet (I’ve done it!). This is also the first unit I’ve seen that comes with both a floor stand and rack mounting hardware, even including rails. The typical UPS at any price point is either rack mount or floor standing – not both. This is a great model for the small office that may need a UPS for an office server, that can grow into a 72” rack as your needs expand.As far as functionality goes, the unit includes both serial and USB monitoring cables, and a CD with documentation and automatic shutdown software for Windows and Linux. I didn’t need the included software, as I found that Network UPS Tools (NUT), included in my Ubuntu 16.04 server installation, had no problems recognizing this UPS using the usbhid-ups driver.When the time comes to replace the batteries 3 to 5 years down the road, the batteries in this unit are hot swappable, from the front, meaning that you won’t have to take your systems down or remove the UPS from the rack to perform that basic maintenance.All in all I am very impressed in the solid construction and performance of this UPS in the week I’ve been using it, and I look forward to it doing what all good equipment does – do its job for many years to come, so that I can basically forget its there!

This is a really great product and very dependable for home entertainment set ups. It’s a little noisy so you’ll want to keep it hidden. However it’ll ensure the safety of your HD TVs and whatever peripherals you have plugged into it. I’ve got it hooked up to my Sony 4K 55” television,Yamaha surround system, and Xbox One. As well as an iMac 27” with another set of speakers for it plus numerous external hard drives. So far it’s doing great. Had a storm come through and lightning dimmed lights in the house but tv and everything plugged into it didn’t budge at all.

Bought this one because my previous Liebert UPS was a little too big for my home office needs.This unit is the right size for my rack and provides ample wattage to run all my servers, PC, Playstation 4, I even run my TV through it to protect against brown-outs and lightning strikes.If installing this in a home office remember that this thing is heavy and all that weight in the rack can add up.

Very satisfied with this unit. This is the second Liebert UPS I have deployed, the first was the 1500VA model of the GXT4, this runs much quieter so it could be used with a workstation. Also glad to see they included all the cables needed so I didn't have scrounge for anything. Run time is good, lots of features for the price, and well documented. Satisfied again with Liebert's product.

After running in our data-center for less than a month this unit started bellowing thick black smoke. After returning to the manufacturer per J-Electronics instructions we were not able to get a refund. Very frustrated with Amazon and J-Electronics and their lack of response.
