Am Pentax PF-80 ED ist die Vergrößerung extrem, 144 fach. Das ist nur unter optimalen Bedingungen einsetzbar. Das Wetter ist hier der begrenzende Faktor. Außerdem bracht man ein schweres und schwingungsarmes Stativ mit einem geeigneten Kopf. Ein gutes Fotostativ reicht hier nicht mehr. Unter optimalen Bedingungen ist es dann einfach unglaublich gut, wenn das Bild auch etwas heller sein dürfte. Aber die Physik lässt sich halt nicht austricksen.Einen Punkt habe ich abgezogen, weil das Okular so selten eingesetzt werden kann.

I use this Pentax 3.5 mm eyepiece with my 12"/f4.9 dobsonian (resulting in an exit pupil of 0.7 mm). Additionally I wear glasses when observing and this eypeace is quite comfortable to use, with a brilliant focus. The image is perfectly clear. The grip in darkness is safe and handy.Saturns Ring or even weak planetary nebulae or other deep-sky objects: running this eyepeace is great fun! CS

I have all 6 of the 1.25 in Pentax XW's. They're my favorite eyepieces. This one is not so good for any telescope with more than 600 mm focal length, the magnification is too high for anything other than perfect sky conditions. I like to use it in my 80 mm stellarvue with a 560 mm focal length and it works great for planets under perfect conditions. If you were only going to buy one eyepiece you should go with the 5 mm, it is best for average conditions.

Good power, great clarity side to side, and terrific images. Jupiter, Saturn, galaxies, the moon -- all look great. Very glad I made this purchase. Makes every clear night worthwhile.
