The book is comprehensive in coverage. The downside is that it is bulky and heavy.

There is so much information in this book! Already making use of it when booking our trip in May

This book has made planning for Japan a cinch, it has helped me find out the hidden gems and help me get tips that you'd have to search around for and watch videos just to know the customs.This is a great companion for my travels.

It has so much great information to help plan our trip. I always use Lonely Planet guides. I think to travel around with it I will have to buy each individual city as this version is very big to carry around

Very informative, helped alot

'Lonely Planet Japan’ is a rather large tome with nice pictures/maps, and on that basis alone I would have expected it to be of significant benefit during my recent first holiday to The Land of the Rising Sun. Unfortunately, that was not the case, and I must say I found talking to folks along the way, using phone apps, and browsing the Internet much more useful in terms of identifying where to go, what to do, and how to do it. Maybe this sort of guide book has had its day. A shame. Lonely Planet used to be my go-to reference source for vacations.
