Great book but needs older software versions to work
After troubleshooting the code contained in this book, I've found you need to install some older versions of the software particularly for the Mongo Database. The main issue is the deprecation of call-back functions when working with the database from the command line. I found the fix was to install an earlier version of 'mongoose' which supports the call-back functions. When installing mongoose, use 'npm install [email protected]' and this will enable the code in the book to work fine. Otherwise, it's a great resource and well explained.

one of the best books you can get if you were starting your Backend journey
this book is really underrated. It keeps things simple, straight to the point and very clear. it teaches you many many important concepts in backend development in a practical way. It will walk you through developing a blog app and adding features to it. Once you finish this book you will find your self with an overview understanding of how websites work. However, I note that f you are new to Javascript in total, dont start right with this book, learn javascript syntax and basics well and then do this book.another thing i recommend is that you dont rely only on this book, take it as one resource of many.

Excellent starting point.
Programming so far has been intimidating but after going through this book I feel a lot better. The book takes you through the steps of building a simple blog site but the key thing for me was his explanation of the codes being used in each step. If your are new to web development, this is a great book to start with. The author is really good with responding so, if you have any issues you can reach out for his help, but I would suggest comparing your code to his they are all on Github.

Great content, good book but needs editing, would benefit from better formating.
Great content with well worked example code to help get you up and running with Node.js, Express and Mongodb in the context of Node.js. The book doesn't appear to have been edited and has many minor English language errors making it difficult to read, particularly for someone with attention deficit as a language error makes me have to re-read several times. Some better formatting would also help as it isn't always clear what should be typed or removed from code. I've found that 'localhost', used in most examples, has stopped working and I think that may be because of a recent version of Node.js so look out for that issue and consider altering your mongod.cfg file to accept 127.0.0.1 instead. All that said, still a good book which will help a programmer get up and running quickly so I do recommend it,

Good
It's a good balance between too much and not enough information. Shares with you the barebones of building and once you understand it you can go off, trial and learn and read more.

A Very Positive Experience!
I have carried out many projects in books and online courses but this has been the best experience yet for me as a beginner. The Instructor was really helpful and I have no reservations in recommending this book. I have already purchased others in the series and his online course on Deno.
